Ms. Kimmerer where did you think you "sacred" corn came from? The native people in southern Mexico created maize by artificial selection and cross-breeding of a wild plant. That is "genetic modification".

Humans eat vegetables. Animals eat plants. Predators eat animals. Humans eat plants and animals. It’s the order of nature. Get used to it. Corn is not a god. Words have meanings. Rape does not apply to corn. This person is severely in need of help. I suggest it bury itself in a corn field to provide nourishment for her beloved corn.
