How this ocean critter got into tree sap is an interesting mystery.
Maybe the tree was swamped by rising sea levels due to global warming caused by our early ancestors that just discovered fire.

Amber is such a miracle, capturing and preserving all manner of ancient creatures in pristine condition that would otherwise not be fossilized for us humans to study.
My first thought was to jokingly think, when I saw 99million year old “Ammonite”, was that the biblical timelines must be way way off!
That's a shame, it would be great if they could extract DNA from the ammonite as they've done for insects preserved in amber.
I thought the Hebrews killed off the Ammonites shortly after entering Canaan.

It is absolutely amazing news. I follow science discoveries closely, and have never heard of marine animal remains captured in amber before.
The fact that the ammonite shell was preserved in amber IS fantastic news!
