The Top Ten Evilest People of All-Time
American Spectator ^ | April 5, 2019 | Larry Alex Taunton

Have you ever wondered who the evilest people to ever walk this earth are? Adolf Hitler always seems to be the go-to reference in such conversations. It is a difficult thing to quantify. Do we do it statistically — that is, according to who killed the most people — or should it be based on their evil influence on history? My list relies on both. Of course, it’s totally subjective, but those making the Top Ten might surprise you. So, starting in reverse order, I give you a list of people who will make you feel better about yourself:

10. (tie) The Kims: Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il, and Kim Jong-un

This is quite possibly history’s worst political dynasty. In addition to starting the Korean War that killed 3 million people and their refusal to officially end that conflict, this grandfather-son-grandson trio has created one of the most repressive regimes in the world. Without the protection of a meaningful constitution and the Rule of Law, citizens are frequently starved, beaten, imprisoned, murdered, indoctrinated, and forced to worship the Supreme Leader. At least North Korea serves as a nice answer for millennials who ask, “Dad, what was the Soviet Union like?”

9. The Sanhedrin of Jesus’ Day

Somebody from the Bible should make this list, and while there are a number of fine nominees, I decided it should be the majority of those who were members of the Sanhedrin in Jesus’ day. Why? Many who reject Jesus as the Son of God do so because they didn’t see his miracles or hear his teaching. By contrast, the Sanhedrin saw and heard both. Rather than believing in Jesus when they saw him perform miracles, their hatred for him grew.

Actually, she had terminal cancer at time of its publication, and fully intended to pay humanity back for her predicament.

It’s usually a manifestation of some kind of ego inflation, that’s for sure. And it almost always results in exactly the opposite of what it claims to advance. How did the Russian Revolution make that country any less oppressive than it was under the Czar? How did Mao’s slaughter of millions make their lives better? Or Castro improve the lives of Cubans? Or Maduro in Venezuela? Or Pol Pot? Or any of the other despots who “revolted” to overthrow tyranny, only to install their own?

Herod the Great, king of Judea. Although adept at holding on to power--he picked the losing side of a civil war in the Roman Empire won by the ruthless and murderous Octavian, yet survived--he was a tyrant and a mass murderer even though the worst crime attributed to him, the murder of the children of Bethlehem, may not have taken place.

If it's in the Bible, it took place. What I will say is that killing some infants in a small village doesn't rank up there in the minds of the contemporaries of that day...especially when you consider that the Romans crucified Spartacus' army and lined them for miles and miles on the Appian Way.

Abū Ḥāmid Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad al-Ghazālī, aka Al-Ghazali (1058-1111), the second most influential Muslim philosopher. At the time, Islam was a successful, modern society, full of technological and social development and innovation. However, he single handedly convinced them to embrace fundamentalism, that all knowledge outside of the Koran and its dialogues was evil. Spreading outward from Persia, it froze Islam in time, and since then it has been stuck in the 12th Century. A primitive, violent religion of barbarians that had been growing beyond that until he came around.

That looks like a pretty good list...although I might do a little bit of switching of positions.

Tough to go by raw body counts, since killing is so much more efficient nowadays, plus much bigger populations exist to be erased. Killing a million in 1970AD is much easier than killing a million in 2000BC.

Some believe the gospels demonizing the Sanhedrin. Others regard it as reverse-constructed Roman cultural propaganda full of anachronism and dubious claims.

But in this case, we should first consider the source. You might want to examine the author.

It’s easy to incorrectly give Herr Hitler the sole blame for World War Two, but Italian, Russian, and Japanese imperialism are also in the pot.

Did they leave out Justice Harry Blackmun (a Nixon appointee) who called Roe v Wade “MY law”?

Well... there was Pearl Harbor, after all.
Granted, however, assuming there was no Hitler to ally with, I doubt Japan would have been as aggressive as it was.

Poor Barack Hussein. He tried so hard and still didn’t make the list.

I just do not think that any type of global war would have broken out with no Hitler.
For example - the Russians and Japanese had it out in 1905, but no global war followed.

Somehow my post did not register. I was nominating Harry Blackmun, the Nixon appointee who called Roe v Wade “MY Law” because he wrote the decision.

Speaking of evil, I watched an episode of Forensic Files yesterday where a woman poisoned her husband, remarried and then poisoned to death her second husband (whom she fed anti-freeze through a turkey baster after the first dose wasn’t enough to kill him, just make him sick).

While this was bad enough, when law enforcement started putting together the pieces, she typed a “suicide” note on behalf of her teenaged daughter, confessing to the murders, and then poisoned her as well. The daughter would have died but for the quick thinking of her younger sister.

To me, this was the height of evil - to kill your own daughter and blame her for murdering your two husbands just to avoid prosecution. It almost worked.

Sometimes, it doesn’t have to be millions.

More people should listen to him.

Sorry tootsie roll. It is not a real English language word. Look in dictionary.com. It is a made up word by someone such as yourself who was a victim of modern education and hence ignorant of proper usage. The proper usage is “most evil”

I think these Marxist dictators just used Marx as an excuse.

Exploiting the poor and downtrodden for power is one of the oldest cons in the book. Communism was merely one of the latest ones.
