Survivor: Edge of Extinction is the thirty-eighth season of Survivor (for those unfamiliar with the show, there are two seasons each year). It begins Wednesday, February 20, 2019 on CBS at 8/7c.
Four former Survivor players to return for Edge of Extinction season
The players range in age from 19 to 46. There are five from California (including four from Southern California), two each from Georgia and New York, and one each from Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington.
Functionally, Edge of Extinction operates like most other Survivor seasons, at least at first glance: two tribes compete in head-to-head challenges, with the losing faction heading to Tribal Council to vote out one of their own. The roads begin to diverge from there, as the eliminated player will leave Tribal, only to discover they aren't quite as extinct as they believed. Heading down the long and lonely path of elimination, the ousted player will encounter a sign at the end of the road, offering them one of two choices: throw in the towel, or follow an additional path to get on a boat and continue the game.Source
Those who choose to exercise the second option will wind up stranded in a remote location known as Extinction Island, a barren wasteland with little to offer its inhabitants beyond the faint winds of hope, and harsher winds off the ocean. The otherwise abandoned beach contains a few scattered remnants of a shipwreck (props, as always, to Dax Pointon and Zac Jensen, childhood friends who grew up to become leaders of the Survivor art department), including a broken mast with a sign that reads: "Welcome to the Edge of Extinction." There they will remain, until they reach an opening to return to the game and if they decide the road toward that chance is too long and grueling to bare, they can always send up the white flag on the broken ship mast, signaling their official withdrawal from the million dollar adventure.
Manu Tribe (blue buffs): Chris, Dan, David, Keith, Kelley, Lauren, Reem, Rick, Wendy

Erik, God help you.
“After a long pause, Cirie posed a question, almost offhandedly. It was perhaps the most audacious question in the history of Survivor: I wonder if he would give Nat his necklace. Probably not, huh? You think you could talk him into giving you the necklace?”
Following up on the idea, Amanda and Cirie began formulating a plan for Natalie to tell Erik that everyone was mad at him and would not vote for him to win the million-dollar prize unless he redeemed himself. And the only way to do that was to give Natalie his necklace, and if he did that, then they would vote to oust Amanda. Natalies reaction on the show upon hearing the scheme? Who would fall for that? Like, I feel stupid listening to you guys right now
AMANDA KIMMEL: Were awful people. I dont know what to say. It was awful! The stuff you have to do on the show is awful. We basically used the sweet parts of Erik and threw it back at him. Hes such a sweet guy and we just manipulated that part. The stuff youre capable of, its pretty bad.
ELIZA ORLINS: Had he just looked at us, he probably wouldnt have done it, because we were having big reactions.

I will watch it in a few minutes. It looks like the season finale is next Wednesday, the 15th.
Down to six and Rick stampedes three of the four into voting Aurora off.
When he made the statement on playing the Idol I told the wife they would flip and he wouldn’t play it.
The only one who deserves to win is Rick.
The finale is next week. A player will be returning from Extinction Island.
Reward challenge winner: Gavin, who took Lauren and Victoria with him.
Immunity challenge winner: Rick
Vata Tribe (merged tribe - red buffs): Gavin, Julie, Lauren, Rick, Victoria

Agree. He is playing the best. Next tribal, Lauren will play her idol too. Hopefully he keeps winning immunity. If he doesn’t they will all vote for him possibly thinking his idol is fake. Then he can save himself. I would target Gavin next.
Agree.

I’m ready
With tonight’s sure-to-be-truncated #Survivor reunion show on the horizon, I will once again propose a full 3-hour finale followed by a full 1-hour reunion on http://CBS.com . Let’s stop the madness and make this happen. Who’s with me?

I am not a fan of the EoE thyme but found in interesting - but I hope they never do it again.
Still not a fan of multiple idols, tribal swaps, returning players and players voted out reentering the game.
I just do not understand why everybody jumped on Chris’ ship the minute he got back in the game. All the players should have made a pact and said “Sorry Chris, you had your chance.”
OK, with all that happened last night Chris, Julie and Gavin are the final three. Even with Chris only being in the game 10 days he made more moves the last few days than Gavin and Julie did all game. Both of them were followers of Ron and members of a group with superior numbers until their cover was voted out.
So with all that - I can be satisfied with Chris winning but hope this thyme never makes another appearance.
I agree pretty much with everything you said.
First runner up: Gavin (4 votes)
Second runner up: Julie (0 votes)
Voted out last night: Victoria (1), Lauren (2), Rick lost the fire challenge to Chris. (3)
Immunity challenge winner: Julie. This was also a reward challenge and she took Chris and Lauren with her. (1), Rick (2), Chris, who gave the necklace to Julie so that he could compete in the fire challenge against Rick. (3)
Vata Tribe before votes and reentry challenge (merged tribe - red buffs): Gavin, Julie, Lauren, Rick, Victoria
Coming from Extinction Island to compete for a chance to reenter the game: Aubry, Aurora, Chris, David, Eric, Joe, Julia, Kelley, Reem, Ron, Wardog
Chris won the challenge to reenter the game and joined the Vata tribe.
Finalists: Chris, Gavin, Julie
Jury: Aubry, Aurora, David, Eric, Joe, Julia, Kelley, Lauren, Reem, Rick, Ron, Victoria, Wardog
Eliminated: Keith, Wendy
Immunity Idol status: Lauren and Rick played their idols. Lauren played hers for Chris. Rick then found another idol which he played for Gavin. Chris had an idol that he received as a reward for reentering the game and he played it.
Rob Mariano and Sandra Diaz-Twine will return as non-competing mentors to 20 new contestants. Details

I thought the EoE theme was disappointing. They could have done more with it.
I don’t mind tribal swaps, or idols but i think returning players should play amongst themselves. Have a season with all returnees if they want returnees.
There are tons of people that probably would like to take a shot at playing so I’m not sure how often they should have returnees and I don’t like winning returnees returning.
I don’t care for Rob or Sandra so, next season already sucks.
It does seem rather crummy that Rick struggled to stay in the game the whole time and loses out to the EoE returnee who didn’t have to compete in challenges as often as those not voted out.
Not sure if i will bother watching next year. I get they want to keep changing it up, but discouraged by next years theme. jmo
