Is it ever NOT being manipulated?
SP500 has advanced at double the historic rate of past 100 years since ZIRP (zero interest rate policy) was introduced by the FEDeral Reserve.
Now the unavoidable law of physics is trying to bring it back into equilibrium. It is really not complicated. The long range norms will always take place sooner or later. Recent market highs made it more over-valued than at the peak just before 1929 crash based on inflation adjusted 10-year average.
Why people expect markets to advance in parabolic fashion PERMANENTLY is beyond me. I am guessing they do not have long term experience in markets and have not studied historical data.

Well, it does go up and down on fairly simple signals - what do you expect from computers? Most of them are programmed to sell on certain combinations of interest rate moves and stock price moves.
That’s not a conspiracy, just the generally accepted theories that everyone uses when they set up a computer trading system. If interest rates go up and stock prices start to dip, then the computer programs sell.

Bottom line is markets can be manipulated, and they are, often.
As the kids say, DUH?!
Yes.
It is the only game in town though.
All it takes is one person shouting loud enough in a crowded theatre to start a panic. Just one with a big voice loud enough and long enough.
Yes, it is being manipulated by the Fed in order to sabotage Trump. During Obama the Fed poured billions into the stock market by buying stocks in order to shore it up and give the sheeple a false sense of security, it was called quantitative easing or QE 1,2 and I think 3. Now I suspect the Fed is selling off those billions in stock they own in order to put downward pressure on the market
Will all these posters be as angry at market manipulation when the stock indices eventually break to new highs? The current concern is that global growth is slowing more than expected and this will shrink profit margins and the multiples of these earnings that stock prices are based on. The only way to end this cycle of fear it to get into earnings season and have companies surprise investors on the upside. The concern is that the media will report this normal cyclical market correction as more than it is and scare the average consumer into pulling back on spending. As long as investors focus on the actual story behind the companies they invest in and have a plan to buy more when the price is low and sell when it gets overpriced relative to its story the rest is just waiting out the noise.

No danger in this whatsoever. It never happens this way.
>That’s 7.1% annual return, not even including dividends which add another 2-3% in annualized total return. The market has overperformed Newt’s so-called “crazy” plan.
Exactly. If SS were like everyone’s 401k plan, with the ability for people to select their own path, and necessarily including the micro-load index funds, all would be well.
At every downturn someone inevitably posts the “see, you didn’t want this risky scheme” BS meme ‘cause of course I really want 2% gain and the entire thing to fall apart before I see one cent.
Knowing corrupt DC, even if they did manage to do a privatization, it’d be partial, have dozens of brutal restrictions, and be tied to funds that happened to be managed by and provide lavish incomes to the biggest DNC and RNC contributors. and it’d still beat what we have now.
Try this:
45% Tax free municipal bonds 35% S&P 500 index fund 10% Global stock index fund 5% Gold and silver 5% CashHas worked for me.
There you go again.
Displaying that un-Christian attitude.
Try this for a change.
Ephesians 4:32
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
Read the parable of the talents, okay?
The guy who was afraid and buried his talents in the ground, got in trouble.
Seek to spur one another on to *good deeds*.
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
You and I had a row last summer, And I apologized to you both in private and on the forum. I have barely posted in the last month. I can count the number of times on one hand. And as soon as I do, Bam! Posters like you come out looking for a squabble.
Accusing someone of thumb sucking and not being a man is an insult. A personal insult. And you know that. You need to read what the Bible says about a critical spirit. I dont know if anyone has ever told you this in your life, such as your family members or friends. But clearly, you have a critical spirit. And thats no way to live.
Moreover, on the Q threads, when Q stated that the stock market drop of 666 points was no coincidence, and that it was the deep state sending a message to President Trump, did you come out and post to Q that he needs to man up and stop sucking his thumb? Of course you didnt.
Be at peace with people, especially here. Please. Dont be that guy.
