When gay businessman David Cooley boarded Alaska Airlines flight 1407 from Los Angeles to New York this past weekend, he expected to enjoy the airline's top-rated service and the amenities that accompanied his Premium Class ticket. Instead, however, he said he and his travel companion were subjected to "humiliation" instead.
"I have never been so discriminated against while traveling before," Cooley, owner of iconic Los Angeles gay bar The Abbey, wrote in a public Facebook post. He said he and his travel companion were "removed" from their flight "to give preferential treatment to a straight couple."
"After my traveling companion and I had been seated in our assigned seats for a while, we were approached by the flight attendant and my companion was asked to move from his premium seat to coach, so a couple could sit together," Cooley wrote. "I explained that we were a couple and wanted to sit together. He was given a choice to either give up the premium seat and move to coach or get off the plane."
Cooley and his travel companion decided they "could not bear the feeling of humiliation for an entire cross-country flight," and so they deplaned.
I cannot believe that an airline in this day and age would give a straight couple preferential treatment over a gay couple and go so far as to ask us to leave, he added.
At the end of his Facebook post, Cooley called on LGBTQ people to boycott Alaska Airlines.

“Cooley called on LGBTQ people to boycott Alaska Airlines”
That would be cool. Would be able to fly with no poofters on your trip
straight couple?
How do they know?
What a crying shame...They were scheduled for their first “mile-high” experience...
Exactly, nothing to do with GAY. If you’ve never been bumped or asked to change seats by an airline you haven’t flown very much.
That said, there are just a few screws missing in this report.
Crawl back in yer closet, ya bloody faggot!
I dont believe it.
I have never heard of them demanding someone who had paid for a first class seat, be forcibly bumped to coach for other 1st class paying pasengers.
Regardless of them being homos or not.
As someone who knew a female stewardess who worked for 40+ years, she said roughly 5 out of 6 male stewards are gay.
...” HAY SID , SOB .... THIS GUY DOESN’T WANT TO WEAR THE RIBBON”...
“Who doesn’t want to wear the ribbon?”
There has to be a lot more to this story. Half of the airline business is gay, this has nothing to do with being gay.
My guess is that the other couple bought their tickets first. Airlines shoot themselves in the foot from time to time. But not because they hate gays. It usually because airline travelers are psycho and looking for a way to get a free seat.
“I don’t give up my seat to just anybody.”
Alaska AL is the best - they used to put a small card with a daily prayer on it when food was served until someone complained. This is a BS hoax!
When boarding flight 1407 from JFK to LAX, a couple was mistakenly assigned the same seats as another couple in Premium Class. We reseated one of the guests from Premium class in the main cabin. We are deeply sorry for the situation, and are investigating the details while communicating directly with the guests involved to try and make this right. Alaska Airlines has a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination of any kind, and our employees value inclusion for our guests and each other.
Eggsactly.
Hoax?
I think the issue is, as I see it, that women are now taking a back seat to gay men. When our culture sees a man and his boy toy as an equivalent relationship in value as to that of a man and woman, women and children lose. Society loses.
If true, good. Heterosexual couples are superior to sodomites.
*And remember that homosexual stewardesses introduced Aids to the US*
Not really, perhaps a homosexual steward?
How did Alaska Airlines know they were gay? I don’t remember that question when reserving a flight.
Oh, never mind. Just went to the article and saw his picture.
