Had the war gone on longer, it would have propelled advances that would have led to better planes earlier than later and better tanks which would have negated the defensive advantages of trench warfare which had the warring factions stalemated in bloody fashion for years. No need for armistice, just bomb them and mow them all down and roll over them on and on to Berlin!
