A month After Going Missing, Squishy the Cat Is Found 80 Miles Away in SF

The Lathrop, Calif. owner of a cat named Squishy is overjoyed after she got word that her pet was alive and well — despite being found miles and miles away on the streets of San Francisco.

Squishy was reunited with his owner last week because of the efforts of a feral volunteer for the San Francisco SPCA. As the shelter tells SFGATE, volunteers regularly bring in feral cats to be spayed or neutered before being returned to their outdoor neighborhood.

This feral cat, however, was "very friendly," as SF SPCA spokesperson Krista Maloney tells SFGATE. When he was scanned for a microchip — something else the shelter staffers check for — they found he had gone missing a month ago from his home in Lathrop, nearly 80 miles away.

"That is one huge pussy."

This thread is about a cat, not Keith Olberdouche.

Hope Squishy was given his own plate of turkey dinner.

One of mine has a big tail like that. He demands hugs and snuggles at least 3 times a day. It’s all about him.

I wish two of our kittens would turn up found.

Happy this one did though. They get to wandering.

Who names their cat Squishy? Especially if it is prone to run loose, what with roads and all.

the efforts of a feral volunteer

It is nice to read that the feral urban youths are giving something back to the community.

Hilarious.

When I first read your post I thought it said 'nice to read that the feral urban youths are giving something black to the community.'

Penny-the-Dog is chipped. I hope she never wanders off though as she would probably be shot on sight>

From from her unmutilated ears, I take it that she’s had a good, loving home almost since the day she was born or rescued as a fairly young puppy. I have a now 12.7 year old dog who’s half American Staffordshire Terrier who was rescued as a young puppy. I’ve never had his ears mutilated. Unfortunately, with a Pit breed of dog, the mutilated ears usually indicate all sorts of other, far worse, types of abuse.

Good for you and Penny. May you both have long and happy lives together.
