Arizona State University researchers have analyzed minerals around the supervolcano at Yellowstone National Park and have come to a startling conclusion. It could blow much faster than previously expected, potentially wiping out life as we know it.

Besides the Yellowstone Caldera, the Lake Toba Caldera in north-central Sumatra bears watching as that is still considered by volcanologists as an active volcano. The Lake Toba caldera is capable of an eruption that could blacken the skies of the entire planet for at least several months.

It sounds like there is a lot of heat energy in the ground there, close to the surface and easily accessible. Why aren’t we deriving all the electric power we need from it? We probably couldn’t drain off enough to cool it down, but it couldn’t hurt, and we’d get all that low cost electricity.

“We aren’t dinosaurs.”

I’m guessing that the human race would survive. But it would be a fraction of the number that it is now. The supervolcano would wipe out a majority of the cropland of the U.S. right away, and the following climate change would wipe out most of the rest of the world’s soon after, and for many years to come.

And if you don’t die from the lack of food, your nation/state/tribe would be attacked for whatever food or decent land you might still have.

So then we don’t have to worry about climate change, right?

The three above will slow roll out in the next 15 years starting with 5G. Quantum Chip will be available to the public in 2024, and the Graphene will be going wild in 2029.

That is interesting. Any specific ideas to profit from this, other than to hold onto an index fund, because everyone will be getting richer (on average)?

Low cost is not automatic. Geothermal can be very costly. The tech required to harvest that energy is not cheap.

Nuclear energy is potentially much cheaper.

Yup.

When you read about the original eruption of Toba, it’ll make your hair curl!

Hundreds of millions of pounds of sulfur dioxide was released. The debris spread all over the planet.
Global temperatures fell by ten degrees centigrade for A THOUSAND YEARS!!

Human population was reduced to around 5,000 people worldwide.

Take the road up to Tower Falls from Canyon Village, then get on the side road to Mt. Washburn. There is an overlook there that when you stop and look down will make you gasp: "Holy sh*t! I'm in the middle of a volcano caldera that's about 50 miles wide."

If you can't see it from there, you aren't looking.

If the Supervolcano can be neutralized with bamboo and palm sap, he is the man to do it.

Maybe they better reduce the number of snowmobiles that go into the park.

That will fix it.

“For its part, NASA is working on a way to prevent the supervolcano from destroying mankind, including trying to cool the magma before it spills over.”

Wait, don’t tell me...

We’re going need to drive less, use renewable energy sources, get away from fossil fuels, go vegan, turn up the thermostat and wear a sweater, and so on...

Private jets and yachts still OK...
