Has anyone seen the new Star Trek series ("Discovery")?
How would you rate it?
Or Netflix. Discovery is being shown on Netflix in most of the rest of the world on account that Netflix paid so much for the distribution rights (except in the USA) as to fund the entire production.
CBS should by now know that the public is not going to put up with paying extra for another streaming service unless it has something exceptional to offer.
Pure PC liberal socialist, “social engineering” dreck.
Infantile and liberal/Marxist propaganda.
Not worth watching.
It will be flagrant leftist propaganda that even old Gene would not have tried.
I have no intention of giving it any of my time.
(Former trekkie who attended Star Trek conventions, and read scores of books.)
The left picture is Keith Andes as Akuta, not David Soul as Makora.
The. Worst.
Comments in IMDB are mostly negative as in 1 or 2 stars.
I quote “The Apple” more often than other episodes. “You struck me!” is a wonderful analog for disingenuous complaints by some today.
Ever see this?

Expanded background story based on Whom God’s Destroy. Interesting that it was a planned fan movie that got shut down - then the new series is set in that same time frame and centered on the Four Years War as well.

David Soul as Makora
“It is a simple thing. Val requires it.”
Correct Sam. See post #91. The montage I posted of Davil Soul next to Keith Andes in makeup was a picture made by someone else. It’s on Google. I posted the correct picture of David Soul in makeup as he appeared on the episode.
Well, that Celeste Yarnall is the most beautiful in my opinion.
In terms of someone who appeared on the show who was a woman that you wanted to meet when you were a college freshman on a Friday night, probably Angelique Pettyjohn.
Caution: if you Google her name, you find some pretty risque picutures.
It is said the new trek will introduce its first openly gay character.
PASS.
I gave it a chance and thought the pilot looked good, but taking the knee ruined it for me. No thanks.
I see, thanks.
The most beautiful women of TOS is a long list that is difficult to narrow. The most beautiful female costume of TOS is also a long list, but from the beginning one has had the most discussion (including a long one in the first or second mainstream book on the series to come out back in the 60s), the iconic gown Apollo gifted Leslie Parrish in ‘Who Mourns for Adonais.’ It was so iconic that a Mannix episode was created around the premise of reuniting that actress with that very gown. Leslie, herself, is of course somewhere on the first list.
On an unrelated note, the Canadian version of SyFy, Space, is running TOS series in HD and they’ve been converted to widescreen. Dunno if they’re just zoomed, but they don’t look like it. Combined with the new effects they’ve done a great job of bringing the classic old episodes into the HDTV age.
Wish they’d do that for TNG.
