RIP Glenn. Galveston is a song about a young man drafted to fight in Vietnam. He left his 21 year old girlfriend and thinks of her and Galveston while he worries of dying. "I clean my gun and dream of Galveston".
Glenn played briefly for the Beach Boys. From December 1964 through early March 1965, Glen was a touring member of The Beach Boys playing bass and singing Brian Wilsons high falsetto harmony part. Brian was in rehab. Glenn could listen to a song once and play it from memory.
Also recommended is The William Tell Overture in memory of the Lone Ranger and Tonto, Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels. Relly great guitar work!

An excellent tribute to Glenn is found here: https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2017/08/glen-campbell-rip.php.
Well worth anyone’s time. Glenn was one of the finest musicians and singers of his time. RIP Glenn, Christ love you.
Had a lady neighbor who loved him. Invited her over to watch it on youtube. One hour. We were laying on the couch together. First date-cheap. I’ll let you imagine the rest.
Glenn often played the last of the complex “William Tell Overture” with the guitar over his head. I cannot imagine how hard that was.
Even hard rockers like me, back in the sixties, turned the radio up when a Glenn Campbell tune was playing. Galveston was a sweet, but forlorn ballad.
Saw that, it is on youtube. I hate youtube, only because it is part of Google.
Thanks so much for posting this link.

That was very nice; thank you for posting it! I didn’t know that Glen was such a talented guitarist. After watching your clip I clicked on the clip of Alice Cooper discussing Mr. Campbell. That was pretty stinking interesting!!
Great article on Glen Campbell with lots of wonderful songs embedded. Thank you so much! I might have to buy the “Meet Glen Campbell” album.
Glenn only wanted to be a good guitarist. It was only later that he was dragged into singing too.
For those who may have missed it because it did not post as a link, this ia=s a really great Glenn Campbell song:

Not sure who Glenn Campbell is (there was a joke about that in an old Andy Griffith episode), but Glen Campbell’s version of “Wichita Lineman” done with the Stone Temple Pilots has been a fave of mine for a while now, look for it on YouTube.

Stinking interesting? What an odd thing to say.
Oops that is Jerry Reed and Glen..
Those were the days when performers performed with class instead of looking like they have been dragged off the streets still having DT’s or seizures as they *perform*.

Spanish-American War as far as I know.
