I hate the ambulance chasers as much as the next FReeper, but would she have grounds for a medical malpractice lawsuit?

Boy Scout Handbook covers this, along with the cheap snake bite first aid kit.

Progress in the 21st Century? Many more unself-relient fools.

There was a question of Jeopardy the other day about snake bites. The state with the most deaths was Florida.

I hate the word partner for husband or wife. I have a business partner. A chess partner. A tennis partner.

Husband or wife is unique.

Anyway, a very sad story.

Kinda rare, these days, to die from a rattler.

May he rest in peace and may the rattler die of indigestion.

Makes me kinda wonder...if he couldn't tell them he was bit by a rattler at the time he went to the hospital, how did they know he'd been bitten later...when they administered anti-venin?

I've never been surprised by a rattler, mainly 'cause I let them know I'm there and they'll usually let me know they are there.

A damned Copperhead...I'll kill every one I see.

Period.

I hate those damned sneaky things.

In fact, I hate them so bad, that when I see a King Snake on another part of my land, I transplant them closer to my house.

I found a big King just a week or so ago while bushhogging...surprised it in the process of eating another snake.

Couldn't tell what it was from the tip of the tail, but I hope it was a Copperhead.

My sister got bit by a copperhead about three years ago. It was dark, and she was walking a basket of laundry outside to the washer in the garage. She said initially it stung, and she said it looked like it might be a spider bite. Within an hour, she was in the ER with nausea, fever, and chills. They had to keep pumping antivenin into her, and she basically used up the whole supply the hospital had before she stabilized. She went though months of hell trying to recover. Had ongoing renal failure issues. Antibiotics to fight off sepsis and gangrene. It's not something I'd wish on anybody. I feel for him, and condolences to his family.

I hope she sues the hospital out of existence.

Excellent wrongful death suit there. How devastating. What a careless hospital.

That hospital should be sued right out of existence. That poor guy should never have died, except for the utter incompetence of that hospital staff. THEY killed him.

We’ve killed 4 copperheads so far this spring. That’s the most we’ve seen since we lived here. This week while working out in my shop, I could smell something nasty....smelled almost like something rotten or dead. I knew it was Cottonmouth. Got looking around with a flashlight. Sure enough, a stump-tailed Cottonmouth had gotten in there somehow and was coiled up in the corner. I managed to pin him down with a hoe, but not without him striking at me about 3 times and almost got me on one of those strikes. They’re aggressive as hell and frickin’ vicious to say the least . Once I finally had him pinned down good, I just pulled an ISIS on him and sliced off his head with my knife.
Copperheads are very nasty, but IMHO, a Cottonmouth is the nastiest snake there is around here. Hate em.

What the hell? They never looked at the marks?

One you dont want to mess with is the Mohave Green. I have killed quite a few around here. They will come after you. They are 17 times more toxic than a sidewinder. They have both types of venom. Hemo toxins and neuro toxins.

The fact is that people often mistake small western diamondbacks for Mohave Greens.

How would you not know you were struck by a rattlesnake?

I live on a lake in Texas, and every spring water moccasins come out on my patio to warm up. I’m sure they get very warm when I send them to their eternal reward.
