Their initial affair - while Letourneau was a 34-year-old mother of four and Fualaau was 13 - ignited national controversy. After the relationship was revealed, Letourneau pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree child rape and served seven-and-a-half years in prison.
She and Fualaau married in May 2005 after she was released, and they have two children.

When I saw the pair interviewed on Barbara Walters a few years ago, the kid/now adult/husband seemed profoundly depressed.
These stories are a reflection of the depravity in our ‘modern’ society and a warning to parents to be aware of all their children’s relationships.
Teachers, boy scout leaders, priests, - we hear of horror stories every day - never thinking it would be ‘our’ family tragedy.
LeTourneau is bi-polar.
You never see that reported because it dampens the “What-is-this-world-coming-to???” angle.
She was cute then. Now she’s an old woman, and he’s still a young man.

They look like oil and water. And a doctoral thesis could be written about the facial expressions.
Their daughters are now 20 and 21 years of age. I bet they love all the news reports re-hashing their parent’s affair.

Hadn’t heard about the kiosk. Did know that John Schmitz was revealed to have fathered two children with a woman who had once been a college student of his.
Wasn’t her first husband a serial adulterer? Also, wasn’t her dad supposed Conservative John Schmidt-discovered to have had a affair with a former student or intern?
Herbert was only ten years my senior...
For those who don’t know....
Mary Kay is the daughter of a once renowned “true conservative,” (note the quotes) and Presidential candidate. Rep. John Schmitz.
It eventually turned out that despite his image as a highly moral, Catholic, he had two children out of wedlock, and refused to financially support them.
In my area. This guy and plenty of others like him, disabused me of the fantasy of “morality,” among public figures.

Schmitz ‘s political career was ended when his extra-marital affair and fathering of two children became public. Congressman Schmitz also refused to support his out-of-wedlock children. Mary Kay’s paramour was in the same grade as her half-sibling John George Stuckle.
That’s wasn’t an affair, it was child molestation.
