thanks for that info on lemon oil diffuser- I’ll check that out-

used to use zircam zinc nasal swabs for colds- worked reallty really well- shortened the colds a lot- but then we learned that people were losign their sense of smell because of the zinc in the nose- they took it off the market- really miss the stuff- it worked so well-

Will try that lemon diffuser-

Be careful - large doses can lead to kidney stones.

There’s really no such thing as a cure-all that works just as well for every single person, there’s a lot of variability and individual tolerance. About the only thing I’d brag on to a high extent for just about everybody would be fresh dietary garlic, but some dislike the taste as well as the potential breath and body odor, and those who are taking prescription blood thinners should avoid it.

Turmeric for me was pleasant up to a point, I felt good, nice warm tingly sensation in my extremities, aches in my lower back and left knee were reduced to a comfortable level, even seemed to have a little effect upon mood to the positive. But, even though it’s “dose to tolerance” meaning that there’s no toxic dose of it, just take what you can handle, I found that I couldn’t take too much of it without digestive distress. This was fairly high potency liquid in vegan gel caps from Gaia Herbs here in NC, reputed at that time to be one of the better ones.

Another that I can speak very highly of personally is L-Theanine for anxiety and mild depression. Very subtle, just smoothed off the rough edges and kept everything on a nice, calm, even keel. No other effects at all, not upon me, not that I noticed.

SAM-e is another good one, but it’s something of a stimulant so be very cautious if anxiety is any issue for you. Clinically proven to have positive effect on not just mood and mild depression but also joint pain and liver function. Sounds like snake oil salesman time with all those seemingly unrelated conditions for which it’s beneficial, but clinical studies on all of it. I got turned on to SAM-e when my dog’s veterinary oncologist prescribed it for him to help liver function during chemo. He perked up and seemed to feel so much better which was a surprise, as that wasn’t the reason I was giving it to him, so I started looking around.

I did not know large doses cause kidney stones - thank you for telling me that.

I DID know it causes permanent discoloring of our countertops - my wife told me that.

I usually scoff at health food and supplement claims, but there’s been a fair amount of legitimate research on turmeric showing beneficial effects.

I like T-Bone’s suggestion on where to get it.

Just what we need, another “super food” to drive prices up. Worse it’s a good food. it’s way better when “super foods” are something I don’t eat so having the price go up 300% doesn’t effect me.

Sounds like it might be good for elderly men too who have an issue with “bone” density.

I've been using turmeric for years.I had to see a new doctor. She is from India and when she learned I was using turmeric for years she was very impressed. I was taking a double dose. She told me to take 3 doses instead of 2 doses.

I saw her a couple months later and told her how much the anti-seizure drug helped the nerve pain in my leg. She looked at me and asked “don't you think it is the turmeric?” She said she thought it was the turmeric.

Sam-E can cause liver problems I believe-

[[About the only thing I’d brag on to a high extent for just about everybody would be fresh dietary garlic,]]

I developed a severe allergy to garlic- i used to eat the cloves raw- now i can’t eat even a tiny bit of it- break out in rash, get dizzy- and it repeats on me terrible now- I feel ill when taking it now-

people with bleeding issues should avoid Sam-e and it lowers blood sugar so people with low blood sugar should avoid it- people with manic depression should avoid it too-

I had looked into Sam-e at one time thinking it would help with fibro- but something i read made me not choose it- can’t remember what it is now- i just tried looking it up again, but not finding the info- mighta been the bleeding issues- as i have ulcers- and had close call with bleeding-

[[I’ve spent a great deal of money on supplements, herbs and essential oils.]]

Me too- eaten drank, snorted, smoked, inhaled some of the nastiest herbs known to man- made some concoctions that owukld curl the paint off a house-

Like i said previously- i may have done more harm than good- and i wasted wayyyy too much money on hyped up herbs, minerals, sugars, vitamins, etc- and i can honestly say they did absolutely squat for me- the one that has done the most was magnesium- one of the cheapest of them all-

what is magnesium helping you with?

I heard it helps with migraines, but if you take too much you get diarrhea.

I have a friend who says tumeric helped his whole family with joint paint issues, they can move better.

Take a look at “Curcumin” tablets. That is what has been working for me!

se4veral things- I get reynoud’s syndrome (Sp?) which it helps with- and weakness and exhaustion- debilitating weakness- also get cramps a lot- which it helps with- The mag is the only thing I’ve found that helps a bit- it’s not a miracle or anything but it definitely helps-

There are some forms of it that don’t cause the Big “D” - ion channel mag doesn’t- chelated mag doesn’t- and a few that cause less D- I take mag citrate but can only take a 1/2 pill at a time- take one 1/2 in morning 1/2 at night-

Me too! I take the powder for headache pain.

I just put a spoonful of the stuff into my mouth and then wash it down slowly with water. Note: don’t try to swallow the whole spoonful at once.
