President Barack Obamas concessions to Cuba opened the way for U.S. airlines to do business with the communist dictatorship. After announcing frequent flights to the island over a year ago, however, many major airlines have found the demand they expected from U.S. tourists simply is not there.

Cuba would be a great place for the liberals to get away from Trump.
Socialism seems like a “nice concept” to some people — but the reality is always far short of the dream.
Liberals need to think about why that is.
The small portion of leftists who want to make a pilgrimage there have already done so, or simply don’t have any money to pay the Castro regime.
This surprises me a little. My 75 year old mother and her 80 year old friend both went to Cuba in December. Neither is liberal (both are religious Bible-belters). Their trip was fairly bland, even though they went right after Castro died. If someone like my mother and her friend went, I’d think that others would go too, even if it was just for the novelty of going.
I have to laugh at commodity groups who are licking their chops over potential sales to Cuba.
Cubans have no money...
The thrill is gone and Cuban Cigars aren’t what they used to be when Kennedy had his stash.
My understanding is all the major hoteliers are planning to build plush new ones [true? or not?]. I could see Cuba being turned into a theme-park kind of thing with 1950’s American cards and Hemingway-type bars with rum-themed drinks.
If not, what else?
Do over:

Oh for the days when Ceaucescu ran Romania- and you could get a cheap vacay to Romania.... NOT!
Cuba is, besides the lovely tropical setting— a commie hellhole, run by thugs overrun by whores (female and male), and the preferred destination of the pervo left. The food in Miami— authentic Cuban food— you cannot get in Cuba. And, they still have the dollar stores (elite) and the cuban peso stores for the proles. A tropical gulag prison island.
May I recommend the Babalu Blog which keeps up with ground level events in the continuing farce of the “opening” of Cuba? Here:http://babalublog.com
I’ve lived in communist countries. Its not simply a matter of getting rid of the top tyrant and his immediate circle - although that’s a necessary first step. Killing them is best, because both the old apparatchiks and the citizens can see proof-positive things have changed and the old regime is gone for good.
The entire system of total control - from the police and security services, to food allocation, to living arrangements, to education to assigning everyone a job - then needs to be dismantled.
The country then needs a long period of national catharsis, as they come to grips with the many decades of forced, immoral behaviors which made them often sub-human, and pitted citizen against citizen.

Cuba is a beautiful place and I wish to go. But I can’t give 1 single penny to the Castro regime
Speaking of the old 50s era cars, I had heard that some old car enthusiasts wanted to go to Cuba, just to see the old cars.
I have a feeling the fans of old cars will be disappointed. The old cars in Cuba are not exactly in mint condition. If they expect to see something that you would see at a car show here in America, where the owners take great care of their old cars and show them off, they are going to be very disappointed in Cuba.
The trips appear expensive. I doubt there is a/c for us spoiled types. The National baseball team could be moved to Miami as a condition of getting rid of the remaining Castro. The rest of the Marlins can be redistributed for 1 year.
I plan to go...but i fly for free...got to at least try a cuban cigar once.
Go to the Dominican Republic instead, the beaches are much better.
We’ll eventually see a “Trump Tower” in downtown Havana.
Michael Moore couldn’t say enough good about Cuba’s quality Healthcare compared to ours.
