Cavaliers Star Kyrie Irving Says Earth Is Flat and Everyone’s Lying
New York Post ^ | February 17, 2017 | Ryan Lazo

Maybe Kyrie Irving would have benefited from a few more years of that pricey Duke education.

The Cavaliers point guard, who has established himself as one of the premier players in the NBA, caused a stir by saying he believes the earth is flat, not round, while participating on the podcast “Road Tripping with RJ and Channing.”

“This is not even a conspiracy theory,” Kyrie said. “The earth is flat.”

I have decided that none of this is real.

Not me, not you, not FR.

All of it is an illusion and we are merely figments of divine imagination.

Have you proven the videos I've shown to be fake?

Don't need to. Elementary mathematics and simple geometry proves the flat earth theory wrong. So do countless photographs, videos, and astronomical studies, over the last two thousand years.

Just stop, Phil. You may as well be arguing that the moon is made of green cheese - or do you believe that, too?

...common courtesy. You should include me if you’re going to talk smack about me.

Phil, this is a live thread, and you're one of the real time participants. Why would I ping you when you're sitting right there?

Heck, man. I can see you clear from Dallas, because the earth is flat!

For the edge is cold, and full of terrors.

You do get it.

Just ignore it and it'll go away all on its own.

Or better yet, poo-poo it as not real and don't you even think some scary dead dude is going to come and kill you, even when he's stabbing you to death and you're watching your blood create an ever expanding pool around you as you slowly die.

Just challenging your perceptions of reality

Or, at least trying, but you've failed. A couple of thousand years of human experience and understanding comprises my reality.

Yours? Not so much.

I'm already there with you, Sal. I've got myself firmly duct taped to my van, which is 7,500 pounds. I ain't going anywhere!

What’s at the end of the ice, Phil?

Well, there's a ship and ships float on water so...it looks to me like water is at the end of the ice.
What do you think is at the end of the ice, Windflier?

I used to get annoyed seeing it spelled “duck tape” but I’m OK with it now since somebody trademarked it and started selling actual “Duck Tape™” lol. Comes in all sorts of colors, camo patterns, collegiate logos, metallics, pretty fancy stuff for tape.

Great advice. You should take it.

A couple of thousand years of human experience and understanding comprises my reality.

But what about the millennia beyond the current 2 millennia or so of human experience and understanding of which you speak?

Cultures all over the world believed the Earth was flat for quite a long period of time.

And if you say "we're smarter than they were" then why can't we figure out how they built the pyramids, the antikythera mechanism or any number of other things.

Our time is but a shadow of the past.

Cultures all over the world believed the Earth was flat for quite a long period of time.

Ancient people believed in lots of things we now know to be myth. They were at the beginning of this culture's learning curve, and gained an understanding of the mechanics of the physical universe one inch at a time.

It's true that there are still mysteries yet to be solved, but the basic composition and configuration of planets isn't one of them.

Water.

What's on the other side of the ice, Phil?
The ice tray.

Perhaps you should rephrase your question.

Ancient people believed in lots of things we now know to be myth.

Present day people believe myth as truth.

Obama was the greatest POTUS ever.

See what I mean?

... the basic composition and configuration of planets isn't one of them.

So everybody must conform to that thinking? What if I don't want to be a lemming and I reject that thinking?

Will you ridicule me into conformity? How about using ostracization? How long before incarceration in a mental facility is used to enforce conformity?

Kind of sounds like what is happening here on this thread, doesn't it.

It's not a way of thinking, Phil. It's simply acknowledging long established facts.

You're free to ignore thousands of years worth of elementary real world observations, mathematical analysis, study, exploration, logical conclusions, and scientific proof, if you wish. That's certainly your choice.

"What's on the other side of the ice, Phil?"

The ice tray. Perhaps you should rephrase your question.

No, I phrased the question correctly the first time I asked it. I even rephrased it a second time to give you even less room to wiggle out of it. Now you're simply refusing to answer me.

You posted a photo of a ship next to an ice sheet. We can clearly see the water, the ship, and the ice. I'm merely asking you what's beyond the ice sheet. If you don't have an answer, just say so.

It's simply acknowledging long established facts.

It's a fact that I can see things that your "long established facts" tell me I shouldn't be able to see with my own two eyes yet I still can.

Which 'fact' do I follow?
