In the past decade or so, science fiction on television has seen a dramatic uptick in both quantity and quality. Shows like Westworld are keeping critics engaged and audiences coming back for more week after week, but while a number of sci-fi shows over the years have developed significant cult followings, others have become notorious examples of just how bad the genre can be when it isn’t executed effectively. Here’s our look at some of the worst sci-fi shows to ever hit the small-screen. For the record, we’re focusing specifically on live-action series only. So any infamous animated shows won’t be appearing below.

There are parts of Logan's Run that are quite memorable...

One scene I recall, they were fretting about a war where the battles were so violent they could destroy the universe. I thought, "The UNIVERSE? If they had been shooting black holes at each other they couldn't destroy the galaxy!"

This didn't even reach to science fiction; that was global warming level stupidity.

I loved B-5. It was much better than DS-9 when DS-9 first started. That one eventually got better by becoming more like B-5 when they had Sisco shave his head and stop acting like a wimp, and brought in the Klingons.

That's the movie, NOT the TV show. The TV show actually had an upgrade in the leading lady (except she couldn't act) Heather Menzies.

Space: 1999 had a ludicrous premise. But I always enjoyed watching it as a kid.

I always dug the Eagle fighters and their utilitarian purpose for both fighting and transport duties. I took a model kit and put all sorts of spare decals from aircraft models to make EL LOBO II.

You left out “Buck Rodgers in the 21st Century”

Gil Gerard was great as Buck, though. Fun trivia fact, originally Twiki wasn't supposed to talk, but the fear was that if he just beeped, the R2D2 ripoff would be too obvious, so they got Mel Blanc to do a comic voice to go with it. Dr. Theophilus, of course, was a crazy merging of C3PO and Electronic Simon.

I actually saw Captain Video and His Video Rangers. That was over 60 years ago.
