Umbrella Day

Date When Celebrated : Always February 10

Umbrella Day is in honor of one of the world's most invaluable inventions. On a rainy, day, we are sure glad that someone was smart enough to invent it. It's also increasingly popular to use umbrellas to shade ourselves from harmful UV radiation, and the heat of the sun.

Umbrellas come in all sorts of sizes, colors, shapes, and, designs. Businesses and organizations use them for advertising. The smallest umbrellas fit inside a purse or glove compartment. Golf umbrellas are popular sizes. Then, there are lawn and beach umbrellas. There's one (or two) made just for you.

Celebrate Umbrella Day in a couple of ways. First, make sure your umbrella is handy. Second, use it, or walk around with it. If you don't have an umbrella, isn't it time to get one?

Preparedness...

I don't mind making jokes, but I don't want to look like one.

Just for Kids!

Speaking of Lady Gaga...

Open the Kraken

Throwing shade with your umbrella

I see what you did there

Handy for coffee drinkers

When just covering the head, isn't enough

Lettuce see your Umbrella

I got yer Umbrella Sword right here...

The Dogbrella - Cuz who wants a wet, stinky dog?

All the Worlds A Cage

F The Rain

For those who like to share!

May the Force of Water Be With You

Wheel & Seal - Who would use this?

In case someone wants to steal your umbrella

I Heart Umbrellas

An umbrella that has your back

What Time Is It? It's Umbrella Time!

Based on the curvature of the earth, the sun lights the umbrella from the back and is allowed to mark the approximate time.

For when you're puttin' around

Careful out there

Some things are better left unsaid.

And I usually realize this after I have said them.

Of all the briskets I’ve cooked over the years, the couple I’ve done in the rain came out with the most beautiful smoke ring.

My thoughts are that the rain hits the pit, cooling the outside, and causing the smoke to stay inside the pit longer due to the temperature variations from inside and outside, thus, causing more smoke. This permeates the meat, and makes it even bigger/more beautiful.

At least, that’s my theory.

The mountain passes are still closed from too much snow here. We still have 10” on the ground although the streets are cleared. Melting now and a big mess.

I bought an umbrella one day because my old one was broken and I knew rain was coming. Soon.

Before I got out of the store the rain had already started so I opened my new umbrella so I could run to the Jeep and not get too wet...and the wind immediately turned it inside out...

Re “Lawmakers aim to make Obama’s birthday a holiday in Illinois.”

What, I thought they already had an April Fool’s Day?

No 34. Is that a scene from the “Umbrellas of Cherbourg”? Where is my secret love Catherine Deneuve?

Yukky. Sort of the same in WY. The piled up snow on the sides of the streets is icky-dirty!
