Keep an eye on your TV just before halftime of Sundays Super Bowl matchup between the Falcons and Patriots. Thats when 84 Lumber will air the following ad:
This isnt the original version of the ad. For that, youll have to see 84 Lumbers website during halftime of the big game. When 84 Lumber and their agency partner, Brunner, submitted the ad to Fox for airing during the Super Bowl it was deemed too controversial.
84 Lumbers president and owner Maggie Hardy Magerko talked to the New York Times about the situation.
I still cant even understand why it was censored, she told the Times. In fact, Im flabbergasted by that in todays day and age. Its not pornographic, its not immoral, its not racist.

And? Rent a clue, friend.
The commercial shows a woman traveling with a small child through desert and wilderness. Just where do you think they're going? Why would they be shown making such a trek, if the producers want us to assume they're legal immigrants?
Answer: They're illegals trying to break into the United States. In the original version (according to some on the thread), the end of the commercial shows them arriving at Trump's Wall.
Now quit advocating for these people, would you?
I smell chamber of commerce, the biggest influence on small construction business decisions in the USA.
Who else could influence the bottom line focused contractors to dip into the day labor pool almost over night and on such a wide spread basis?
Oh it is two men, alright. I was looking for a YouTube video of this funny dog TO SHOW MY 10 YEAR OLD (a video we had seen countless times before) and that mess of two men kissing showed up on my screen with him looking over my shoulder.
UGH.
...LOL......tell em they’ve lost Cen-Tejas too!
I don’t understand why some business people feel like they just have to say what they think. We don’t give a damn what u think........idiot! Your a lumber peddler for god’s sake!
Your opinion on immigration is like my opinion on Melania’s dress!!
I'm in the same boat. I'll never forget or forgive what these open-borders traitors did.
I’m not advocating for anyone.
I already said it is a bad commercial and will not attract customers to 84 Lumber.
But, the characters depicted in the commercial are not illegal aliens as the commercial is entirely set in Mexico.
Once they cross the border illegally, they become illegal aliens.
Many years ago, Hallmark was really big on gun control. I get their channel as part of my Dish Network package and there have been a few good movies so I was about ready to forgive them.
Then they do this!
84 Lumber should open some stores in Mexico so the Woman can get a Job and tale care of her Daughter.
Anyone know where the Father is?
And I guess that includes whether they are in the country according to the country's laws or not.
I have been in the position of hiring people and, even though this was years ago, people had to provide proof of their eligibility to work in the U.S. I am looking for work now, sending in applications, and all of them require me to declare I am legal to work here.
Is this all just a meaningless formality to some employers? It must be. Every person working illegally was hired illegally.
LOL!
You should work for Madison Avenue.
Got it.
The American Production Crew shooting the Commercial in Mexico are the Illegals. LOL
Just where do you think we're supposed to believe they're heading? What do you suppose they intend to do when they get to their undeclared (but all too apparent) destination?
Stop and think about the message this commercial is intended to send, and stop being obtuse about it.
“Pro-illegal aliens.... Don’t know what that has to do with lumber.”
Construction and building trades require quality materials. You can cut costs by hiring cheap labor. Buy our lumber and hire an illegal today!
“Dont know what that has to do with lumber. “
have you been to every Home Depot ENTRANCE here in L.A.?
is now
84 Lumber
No, but I assume you are saying it is directed at those casual workers hanging out in front of the store. However, they are not the customer, it is the contractors that are buying not the casual laborer.
She’s picking up red, white, and blue trash and using it to sew an American flag.
Looks like you are right in predicting the "out West" future of 84 Lumber.
Their expansion West will have them in LA shortly--and this sympathy-seeking, tear-jerking, anti-Trump Superbowl ad will have illegals flocking to 84 Lumber down there on the Mexican border.
Like all TV ads, the motive for this 84 Lumber's TV ad is greed--making big bucks off the backs of dirt-cheap and illegal labor.
Serving as the companys Western headquarters, the new office in Phoenix will give both existing and new stores in the region greater access to 84 Lumber services and support. Mark Mollico, a 30-year veteran of 84 Lumber, will relocate to Phoenix to open the new office and lead a team of associates in store operations and development.
84 Lumbers expansion plans will nearly double its footprint in the west, where the company already operates 19 stores across Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas.
Another reason to avoid the Agitprop Bowl.
