NEW YORK (AP) — Scientists have grown human cells inside pig embryos, a very early step toward the goal of growing livers and other human organs in animals to transplant into people.

The cells made up just a tiny part of each embryo, and the embryos were grown for only a few weeks, researchers reported Thursday.

Such human-animal research has raised ethical concerns. The U.S. government suspended taxpayer funding of experiments in 2015. The new work, done in California and Spain, was paid for by private foundations.

Any growing of human organs in pigs is "far away," said Juan Carlos Izpisua Belmonte of the Salk Institute ..

He said the new research is "just a very early step toward the goal."

Pig valves are used to human heart valve replacements, when artificial are not preferred. Our DNA is more akin in this area to pigs than monkeys, chimpanzees, etc. I believe God, in His wisdom, throws an occasional monkey wrench into Darwinist’s plans...pun intended.

All this fancy research is great — but why can’t they find a sure-fire vaccine or something else against diabetes or simple neuropathy?

In Italy a doctor is calming down Parkinson’s disease by injections of Vitamin B-1 even if your blood test does not show a deficiency in B-1.

I remember when Insulin was from pigs. Actually, it was used some time after gene-altered “human” insulin was invented. The early “human” insulin had problems. The biggest one was that its speed of entering the bloodstream was extremely variable. Pig insulin did not have that problem.

They are really working hard on this. There are 2 key projects: grow brains for LIBs and grow spines for GOP pols.
