Do we need to feed everyone and give them a home too? The government regulates all of these.

We all need health care, not health insurance. Ubiquitous health insurance (where a $5,009 MRI costs $20 in deductible payments, so might as well get three MRIs when you fell off a sifa or something minir) is the reason that health care is as expensive as it is. The best reform would be to get the government the heck out of the way and let doctors charge what things actually cost.

The introduction of health insurance products happened primarily in Detroit after WW2, as an employment incentive. Believe it or not, people actually could afford healthcare before this scam we call ‘insurance’.

I want to be covered even though I have sleep apnea. Do not tell me I have to be without coverage for six months when you consider short term insurance coverage. Don’t penalize tax deductions because my majority of income is unearned. I have to pay taxes on it.

And can you get rid of that stupid water heater epa law.

That’s my want list

"So we need a system, which covers every single person. Everyone."

A universal template of access and tax/credit/deductibility, sure, Obamacare didn't do that, it screwed a lot of people. If Medi-caid-care have an equal free-market alternative that we offer and maybe pay for those that can't until they get a job? Perhaps. The libertarian in me wants it free-market and simple as possible, my heart which isn't stone sees people hurting. Their might be a place were we can get a lot more done aka purchase and coverage for a heck of lot less money.

Good observation. They regulate firearms as well, so you know what I want!

The free market is not always the answer when it comes to healthcare. Too often the free market operates off greed. That is good in business but I don’t think it’s the way to manage the health of a nation’s citizens.

Neither is being forced to buy an expensive crappy policy that doesn’t cover anything, which is what has happened to Obamacare.

Having health insurance is not the same as having healthcare. He could replace Aca with the null set and I would be happy. Let free market organize to meet people’s needs and all will be well. No guns, or IRS, to anyone’s head. We need tort reform and let insurance companies operate across state lines would be a good start.

Nope.

You’ve got me by a couple years, but I have been a FReeper since 2005.

Trump said “Repeal and replace”.

He needs to live up to that. This is important.

You are correct but brace yourself.

The problem is that we have a medical monopoly at work. Not allowed to price shop.

My son was born a Preemie in 1980.

Spent his first month in a neonatal intensive care unit.

We paid every dime of the $12K bill out of our pockets.

I doubt many could afford to pay a single days worth today. I spent 3 days in ICU in 2015 for a stroke and the bill was over $20K and it was merely for observation.

If they can get big money from insured patients, then they’ll charge whatever the heck they want for anyone and everyone. Costs of goods and services are off balance. No insurance payments from anyone, and naturally the costs will go down.

The best reform would be to get all the illegals the hell out of here. They have abused “The Emergency Medical and Treatment Labor Act (EMTLA)” and it’s you and I who pay for it through our insurance premiums. Many great hospitals in North Alabama have went under because of this law, having to treat every illegal who enters the ER with the sniffles and never receiving a penny from them.

Procrastination is a feature in politics. A businessman who doesn’t sleep, understands all of this from an economic perspective and has seen and heard about solutions for years can easily go in and say, let’s do it this way. He doesn’t have to procrastinate since he isn’t worried about what a poll says depending on which way the wind blows.

Everything Trump is doing has already been through hundreds of iterations. The only problem has been and will always be in politics, what do the polls say?
