“Look, everyone needs healthcare... (therefore) the government has an obligation to ensure every single person is covered.”

Look, everyone needs food, and housing, and clothing, and education, and entertainment, and other things. By the same logic, the government must provide everything to everyone.

Don’t fall for it - it is a rhetorical (emotional) argument, not a logical one.

Obamacare is an Entitlement.

Most of the “new” people covered are on Medicaid while the Middle Class (working people) paid for it with a Gun to their Heads, the “mandate”.

The 20 Million, or is it 30 Million new people covered because of Obamacare is a blatant LIE, but the Media has made it a mantra. It’s more like 10 Million with 75% of those moving to Medicaid and not paying a dime for it.

Not one Entitlement once given has been repealed. They have been “massaged”, for lack of a better word, but never repealed.

Remember Reagan’s revamp of Social Security?
Funny how it didn’t move up the “early benefit” from 62 to 63, 64 or 65, it just increased the Full Benefit age to 67.
Even Reagan knew that delaying the early benefit age would be a Nuclear Bomb.

For all your critics here, you are correct. The Horse has left the Barn and a replacement is what will happen.

To this day I haven’t had another FReeper tell me an Entitlement that has been completely and successfully repealed and not replaced in one fashion or another.

BTW - I hope people caught Trump’s line in his Inauguration Speech when he said we need to get people off Welfare and back to Work.

I’ll bet people were clutching their EBT Cards to their chests and yelling out Oh Lordy!. LOL

That’s right-—let’s have a health-care system as good as our public education system, where everybody’s covered !

It will be mostly market based, but some will be gov’t based.

I’m guessing health plan across state lines for most and some kind of national health service based access for the poor.

Makes sense since we’re already paying for national health service anyway.

“No we did not. Most assuredly. Not.”

Yes, we most assuredly did.

We used to just write a check.

Even after the Cape Cod Orca and other commies started ruining our system, anyone could walk into an emergency room and be treated.

Getting rid of illegals is necessary, but by no means sufficient. We need to get rid of federal subsidies for health insurance (except for catastrophic insurance) and for education (for citizens as well as aliens), which are the main reasons why the costs of health care and college education have increased so much during the past two decades. We can’t afford the welfare state ven if it were limited to cilitizens.

“We can’t afford the welfare state ven if it were limited to cilitizens.”

Yikes. “ven” = “even,” and “cilitizens” = “citizens.” Stupid iPhone and presbyopia.

If Trump wants to provide a basic level of care for every citizen, the trick will be to do it without: making health care a government monopoly; forcing private insurance to cross-subsidize the needy; ripping off doctors; rationing treatments in the name of equality; or funding sex changes, abortions, Viagara, etc. The funding of basic care should be out in the open and funded by broad-taxes.

Best replacement is free market.

Yes, but if we get that tomorrow we'll suffer a bad case of the bends.

I don’t think a good complete plan can be done that quickly.
Parts could.
Enough to ‘jam’ the Dems into helping out with the vote maybe.

the problem with medical care is cost.

The business model of the US healthcare system is illegal. IT is a combinations of illegal monopolies, illegal price, fraud and protectionism.

It is flat out illegal to price discriminate, not have posted prices ahead of time, and many others things under federal law, but they do not enforce it.

Insurance companies have all the incentive in the world to INCREASE MEDICAL COSTS.

they are regulated to a certain % profit, and the market is saturated. The only way they can make more money is for costs to increase.

They would much rather make 10 times the money with your insurance cost $1000 a month then $100.

If Trump is working Trumpcare within Congress’s limited Commerce Clause powers (1.8.3) as clarified by a previous generation of state sovereignty-respecting justices, essentially letting the states run their own healthcare programs, then great.
”State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress [emphases added].” —Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

But if Trumpcare requires new federal government powers, powers that the states have never expressly constitutionally delegated to the feds, then Trump will need to do the following. He will need to work with the states and Congress to successfully propose a Trumpcare amendment to the Constitution to the states.

Note that the states are not obligated to ratify any proposed amendment to the Constitution.

Otherwise, if Trumpcare is not established within the framework of the Constitution, then Trumpcare will unconstitutionally expand the federal governments powers as bad as Obamacare did.

So the government regulates healthcare therefore it needs to provide healthcare to everyone?

The government regulates how much water is in my toilet bowl and what kind of light bulbs I can buy. Does this mean they need to provide a toilet and light bulbs to everyone?

Thank God and Greyhound he's goooooonnnnnnneeeeeeee!!!!! Welcome back to sanity. Welcome back to the free Republic of the United States of America. Git rid of Obamacare, build the 50 foot electric border wall, move the embassy to Jerusalem, git rid of the muzzies from Syria, git rid of the illegals, put in a Supreme Court Justice.

Question: We have a republican president, house and senate. President Trump will put in a new supreme court justice soon. Should he entertain replacing our three other older supreme court justices while we control it all? I love Justice Thomas, but these folks are very old, health is a big problem, IE our need for this new justice. Should Mr. Trump entertain asking them to step down now and allow him to replace all three with much younger conservative, Constitutional strong justices while we control that process. While I pray The Donald is there for 8 years, we just never know what might happen. I would not be shocked if the One World Gov types try every thing they can to get rid of him so their agenda can get back on line. But, I think putting in four young strong justices right now is good for the future AND if something happens to one of the commies on the other side, we could have FIVE and control the court for 20-30 years. Otherwise, we might run the risk in 4 or 8 years, and I don't see some of them going 8 more years, of a dim putting in their replacements down the road. If God is good to us, if we SEEK Him daily in prayer, maybe He grants us Donald for 8 and VP Pence for 8 more. Now with that, we can all honestly say: GOD IS INDEED GOOD!!! Amen.
