I am no fan of Michelle but from the video she didn’t look to me to be acting badly, just a little off her game. She has been the First Lady for 8 years and now she has to be gracious to her replacement. That has to be a hard act for anyone.
However, there is puh-lenty of crappy Michelle behavior to call her out on!

If you watch it in real time, she just looks like someone looking for a hand, to hand it off to.
It’s only when slowed down and stopped that it looks bad.
The very moment she realizes there isn’t anybody there to grab it, WHILE there are cameras filming her every awkward move.
For eight years she’s had assistants at her heels.
At this time, most of them are gone.
Perhaps she is upset that “the script” did not include getting a gift. The whole thing had been planned and rehearsed a certain way and then .... some gives a gift which means someone has to go inside.

I think I agree with you. I watched this and what I saw was an actual attempt at being welcoming by both she and Obama.
Sure, she was surprised, mainly about what to do with it (open it up there?, hand it off? Should I hold onto it?).
The linked site has a video from 8 years ago when MICHELLE GAVE LAURA BUSH A GIFT during the equivalent time in Obama’s first inauguration. Laura Bush handled the gift with class. Michelle has great difficulty being gracious...period!
Since it was inevitable, and she's been quoted as being really ready to get on with her life, it shouldn't be too tough a deal to be a little gracious....

She was a little awkward, but I give both of the Obamas credit for being gracious.
