200K? I know that was a lot even in 1971.

But enough to live on for the rest of his life?

I don't think so.

BTW, why a clip on tie?

I'd think that a Boeing engineer would know how to tie a necktie.

Unless they wore them for safety reasons.

Like getting caught in moving machinery.

Is anyone still flying 727’s?

They are still used to fly cargo in South America and Africa.

Some less successfully than others. This is from last December: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eb6YIZQw7EA

He jumps into bad weather through a cloud, no visibility of the ground below.A bad idea.
Snow on the ground, rain snow falling(?)

Wearing loafers!

Ten inches of new snow in some areas.

Hat? gloves? Warm clothes?

Compass and a map, possible.
Unless you have a few known points to to triangulate, you are lost.

In the unlikely event he survived all that; he became a nanny for the local Sasquatch family.

Was DB Cooper a Boeing employee?

Check article and comments.

I think he landed in a tall tree and his skeleton is still up there.

John Travolta doesn’t have a 727.

Travolta owns a 707.

I would think safety reasons for the clip-on-tie if he was an engineer at Boeing, too. He probably used part of the stash-after laundering-to buy a new identity-then, as MrT5 thought go to Canada, find work-not a big deal with good skills-probably use cash for a modest home off the beaten path and go on with life-I think it would be doable, even now if you were smart enough and had planned well enough.

Most of MrT5’s relatives lived in Canada, so he spent a lot of time there-he said there are far more places to easily disappear and assume another identity than there are in the US...

Fake IDs can still be had with enough hard cash-there is always some print/graphic arts shop owner in any town with a population of more than 20-30K who will produce bogus documents that will pass muster for enough $$$...

This new tie evidence makes more sense than any of the previous theories. Getting laid off is more than enough reason for someone to pull something like this.

Toss a bit of money out and everyone is concentrating on where he or money landed. On the ground. Not in the sky. As you said, he hides and walks out dressed as an inspector with a big bag of money and no one’s the wiser.
