Macys says it is eliminating more than 10,000 jobs and plans to move forward with 68 store closures after a disappointing holiday shopping season. The department store chain also lowered its full-year earnings forecast.
The retailer said Wednesday that sales at its established stores fell 2.1 percent in November and December compared to the same period last year. Macys Inc. pointed to changing consumer behavior and said its performance reflects the challenges that are facing much of the retail industry.
As if to underscore that point, Kohls Corp. also reported disappointing holiday shopping numbers Wednesday.

Macy’s doesn’t like traditional Americans... I can’t think of one reason to shop there. I’m amazed you would sell out for a little ‘savings’... That’s nuts. It’s the kind of ‘what’s wrong with Kansas’ kind of crap liberals believe about us. You’re the first person I’ve run into that thinks like what liberals say we think like... (if you get my drift)
The stores that survive will largely be online stores.
I went out to do shopping but had a busted foot and back problems. I did that once and asked myself why I wasn’t buying online.
i did the rest of my shopping at Amazon.com which carries a huge line of merchandise and with prime you get 24 and 48 hour shipping.
I wish it was 5%, but it’s .5%. With all I’ve purchased on AmazonSmile since I signed up a couple years ago, I’ve “donated” $26 to my charity. I’m not complaining, anything is better than noting, but it’s not a whole lot....
what if the head of Amazon was a faggot with AIDS who wanted to rape your family?
8 in Texas. They’ll probably get called racist for closing the one in the crime ridden hell hole of Redbird Mall. At the other end of town, Collin Creek isn’t in a bad area, and hasn’t gotten bad publicity, but it has gotten squeezed out by newer and/or renovated malls and is in a death spiral. Both of those closings make sense, although the Collin Creek closure may be a defensive measure. (’See, we closed one in an upper middle class white area, as well’).
That's certainly not the whole story about Penneys
The bigger reason why they almost lost their shirt (and aren't out of the woods yet) is that they hired an avowed lesbian as their "spokes-it". People that embraced traditional American values didn't like that one at all, and they stayed away in droves. I have no idea if Penneys will ever recover.
As for what's happening to Macy's, it's called 'karma' and it's spelled "Eff-you-see-kay-why-oh-you".
As Macy’s is finding out Trumpsters have long and vindictive memories.
But the gay executives at big stores are sooo trendy at picking styles and the customers love their new moral directon. /s
i don’t get your drift because you’re clueless...
Macys refused Trump’s advice.
Macys told Trump, but there are protestors. Trump told Macys ignore the protestors. They will lose interest soon. Macys instead dissed Trump.
Macys is not into winning.
Close Nashville Green Hills Macy’s which sux
Replace with Neiman Marcus
So I can declare bankruptcy already
I like going to stores when looking for new fishing poles, home furnishing and such.
That’s not the who,e reason either. The GAY dads Father’s Day ad had a lot to do with their downfall also.
Thanks for the correction concerning AmazonSmile.
Not to mention...who wants to go to the mall with the wild barbarians on the loose?
I shop at Nordstroms Rack and Hautelook (which is owned by Nordstroms). They’re both online, have a 90 day return policy, and you can return everything to the store. Love it. So easy.
Penney’s identified their target market as gay America several years ago. I have ignored everything about them and avoided their stores since.
Truth be told, I thought they had gone out of business.
Re Penneys: It didn’t help that they made a conscious decision to market mainly to homosexuals. Normal people felt excluded and quit going there. Their prices were fine during the time when they quit issuing coupons - problem was they were selling clothes that nobody but homosexuals wanted. That is still true, at least in Big & Tall Men’s - I used to buy a lot of clothes there, now I’ve quit even looking. I go to other retailers that still maintain traditional heterosexual male styles (can’t shop online, though - I need to try on).
Trump effect
Macys will have to become an online store at Amazon, and thats it. But they can still have a parade if they want.
*******************
Macy’s can’t compete online ... they sell the same things as other retailers at 3 or 4 times the going price... I just don’t understand them.
