Hofstra should be sued for selling a worthless degree.

Hofstra Drama site...”The department presents six plays and two dance concerts per year, including our Shakespeare Festival.”

Given that theater/drama arts covers some pretty broad ground, did your niece participate in any of these productions in any fashion? Did you attend any of their productions? Has she continued social network contacts with fellow students & faculty? Seems that she lacks the true ambition and drive that I witnessed in the young actors and actresses in NYC trying hard to break into theater, willing to take on most any job to keep working away for the opportunity. And apparently is unaware or unconcerned about the debt assumed by her parents. Walk away, sadly, but walk away. You can't save people from themselves.

His niece needs to face reality. She needs to think outside the box. That was my point.

Nothing. Let her suffer the consequences of her actions.

GreaterSwiss, the ONLY way she has IS through internships, I have a friend whose daughter has a degree in public relations she worked 6 internships before she landed a full time job!!! If your niece doesn’t realize that an internship CAN BECOME a full time job she is NOT TRYING to REALLY get a job in her field!!! To many if these kids come out of school and figure they shouldn’t have to WORK to land a job it should just be handed to them!!! She HAS to put herself out there and show possible employers SHE is what they are looking for, to many kids out there today looking for work WAY TO MANY!!! She will have to have some kind of experience and what the HELL was she thinking getting a degree in Drama!!!

Sounds like your niece needs a tour in the military.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Solid advice, now that we have Trump as C.i.C. and with a 4 year degree, she could enter as a commissioned officer, not as a grunt, as I did.
The kid might win the lottery.
That’s my retirement plan!
The kid may also turn out ok despite the hatred expressed towards her here. Kids follow their dreams and sometimes parents encourage them. Oddly enough, in show business, the most successful types had parents who fought them every step of the way to make their dream come true.
Your box seems to include prostitutes. Which, of course, says more about your box than the young woman involved.
Make the two younger kids the same offer you made the elder.
State school and a degree in something that will make them employable.
If either of them have the inclination I strongly suggest diesel mechanics as a job that is not glamorous but will provide a good living.
They will need it when their older sister begins to mooch off of them.
"There are three options: prostitution, marriage or suicide." That’s a creepy reply.
Thank you. I was disappointed to read so little objection until your post. This is a person. I don't have positive suggestions to help the girl, but I don't like making fun of her either.
Somehow though I suspect that this is a spoiled young woman with a very dysfunctional mom.
