US actress Shailene Woodley has been arrested during a protest in North Dakota against a huge oil pipeline project that will cross four states.
The Divergent star was arrested at a construction site as she was broadcasting the protest, which involved about 200 people, on Facebook.
Police say she was one of 27 people arrested on charges of criminal trespass and engaging in a riot.
The Dakota Access pipeline project has drawn huge protests.
Native Americans have halted its construction in North Dakota, saying it will desecrate sacred land and damage the environment.
In the Facebook Live footage, Ms Woodley, 24, said she had been walking peacefully back to her vehicle when "they grabbed me by my jacket and said that I wasn't allowed to continue....and they have giant guns and batons and zip ties and they are not letting me go".
As she was led away with her hands cuffed, she said she had been singled out from hundreds of other protestors "because I'm well known, because I have 40,000 people watching......
The video spread on social media and by early evening had been viewed more than 2.4 million times....
The protest on Monday took place at a construction site about two miles (3.2 km) south of the town of St. Anthony......

After we had a phony distracting "Left-Right" fight about the Keystone XL pipeline to Texas leaving the Left happy with Barack Obama and the Right unhappy with Barack Obama, the next shoe dropped.
The Dakota Access Pipeline was approved instead by Obama, moving the fracked oil to Illinois, a Democrat state with ties to Obama.
The Left is upset with Obama, at least some of them, along with Native Americans. Green Party presidential candidate (and Hillary Clinton vote drainer) Jill Stein has been charged for vandalism in connection with these protests.
The Obama Administration announced a review of permits to create an illusion of delayed construction through the election period.
But the protests continue during the election period and this is an embarrassment to Hillary and the Democrat Party who claim to be "Green" and claim to be on the side of Native Americans.....

Honestly, I cannot imagine how she ever became a movie star. There is nothing special or remarkable about her, actually. She’s not even what I’d call ‘hot’.

Okay, from her pictures she appears to be not guilty. The jury will have to have a recess.
I thought “Snowden” was a good movie. It was pretty even-handed. I do think a Liberal lean is apparent, but it’s really not in-you-face.
And I’m not even sure if the fact that the US government spies on US citizens is a “Liberal” issue. I think it’s wrong. I was against The Patriot Act. The “Snowden” movie didn’t say anything to me that I disagreed with.

Why should the opinion of a celebrity carry any more weight that that of an ordinary person? I’ve never understood that.
More than diverting the flow of oil from Texas to Blue State Illinois, stopping the pipeline preserves the Warren Buffet interest. The Dakota Access pipeline would cut Buffet’s oil by rail shipment business by about 80%.
