FREEPERS & VAPING: Who vapes here? Did it help you quit smoking?

I was a 2-pack a day smoker, mainly Kool Blue 100s or Newport 100s. Menthol was my taste, but would sponge a Marlboro while in the field in the Army.

After switching to vaping Halo Sub-Zero 24mg, my taste for analog cigarettes vanished. Some time later, my desire for hitting my cherry bomber deminished.

So I ask my fellow FReepers and FReepettes, do you vape? Has it helped you kick the habit?

I don’t remember where I first heard that line(a long time ago)....some comedian. Thought it was appropriate here.

I was also thinking Dice’s line...I’ve been smokin’ x number of years and my lung feels great.

I’ve got too much invested in smoking to quit now.

Just stay away from the hash oil.

You’ll be worshipping Gia in no time and spouting the settled science of GloBull Warming.

I've never seen hash oil to vape.

But I have seen cognac to vape. Yeah, I tried it and it did make me intoxicated. Something I hadn't been since my wedding day, almost 8 years ago.

I will not do that again.

I smoke a pack every 3 days and I don’t inhale.I vape very late at night so as not to open doors and wake people up.Not noticed a difference.

I haven't seen it either, but I've heard about it. Hadn't heard about the coniac. Wouldn't do either. My young and stupid days are 30 years behind me. Got plenty of t-shirts. They don't fit any more which is - fitting. 😎

It helped me.
I was smoking chewing and vaping.
Went to vaping only and was able to start exccercising to relieve stress (because my lung function improved) I vaped so much menthol it was souring my stomach all and I was tweaking badly. Nicotine had an iron grasp.
I went cold turkey. The effect of nicotine on my vascular system was aggravating my peripheral neuoropathy. This was a high motivator. The nicotine cravings eased back after a week, stomach cramps, diarrhea, panic, hell! I did not feel human for a couple months. Just do it, if you lapse just quit again immediately. I was going to die. Still am...just later on.
The vaping helped get past the cravings of the heart and lungs (they want to slow down) by appeasing the brain seemed to ease the absolute grip but, it was still hell. You have to want it.I smoked a pack and a half a day and slept with Copenhagen in my lip. Today it makes me sick to just think about nicotine.

Mom smoked until dad passed, quit cold turkey. And cannot stand the smell of smoke on people now. NOW she knows what we were saying for years.

I quit smoking over 40 years ago. I discovered with me, at least, it wasn't so much needing the tobacco. It was when I did certain things the habit of reaching for a cig hit me. Sitting in a certain chair to watch the news, getting into my car, that was the hard one.

I finally quit when I scared myself into thinking it was causing cancer of my voice box. I made myself think of cancer of it ever time I lit up.

It didn't take long and I had to go to the doctor so he could assure me that I didn't have cancer. I never smoked another cig and now the smell makes me sick.

I started vaping in early 2009. I started out by vaping and smoking. About a week later I lost the desire for cigarettes. I had to try a few different e-cigs before I found one I really liked. I use the Titan by Totally Wicked.

I vape. I like it a lot. I started with a cig-a-like type set up and moved on to more watts and fewer ohms (vapers know what I mean by that.)

I smoked all my life and have now been vaping for 6 years. I think of it as a hobby — learning about all the devices and specifications, trying all the juice flavors, and waiting out the big online sales.

I only vape at home though, because people are so judgy (as evidenced by some comments on this thread.) I don’t vape at work or around other people, but it’s no big deal because I don’t jones for it like I did with cigs. I am perfectly happy to wait until I am home and settled in. I don’t feel addicted to it because I spend most of the day not vaping.

I couldn’t smoke a real cig if you paid me.

Naaah. I quit back in the old days when the choices were to gradually cut back or cold turkey.

I quit 20 years ago and I still want a damn cig.

I read something interesting about tobacco smoke having not only nicotine but MAOIs that aren't present in e-cig juices. This helps explain why tobacco is addictive but vaping is relatively benign by comparison.

A person can use the e-cigs to get past the period of withdrawal from tobacco then incrementally lower the nicotine until it's either inconvenient and quits all together or treats it like a hobby.

I quit smoking with vaping. I do not vape nearly as much as I used to smoke. I don’t feel the urge to smoke so much. When I do I vape.

I know quite a few people who quit smoking using a vape. My daughter vaped for a month and half to stop cigarettes then stopped vaping.

I don't like to vape in public because I don't want people to think I am vaping pot, as the devices are essentially identical.

Definitely agree. Also, the battery/tank combos are getting larger and could be mistaken for a small handgun from a distance or at night. Not something I'd want to be carrying around casually.
