Rolling Stones fans have known that the band has been working on a blues album for a while, and now it looks like it will be released before the end of the year.
Frontman Mick Jagger recently tweeted Watch this space #playingtheblues with a photo of a case filled with harmonicas.
Meanwhile, both Jagger and the Rolling Stones official twitter accounts have changed their profile photo to a Stones lips and tongue logo that is mostly blue.
While both of those things just feed into rumors, longtime Stones producer Don Was told a French media outlet that The album consists of covers of blues songs of Chicago. It was recorded live in the studio in just three days, with the musicians in a circle around the microphones. There was no retouching on the pieces. The record sounds very crude, very authentic. It captures the essence of what they are. He also apparently said that the album is due out in December. For more on this story, go to WZLXs website.

Interesting... I’ll have to go revisit that one.
I have all of their albums in my collection.
I’ll say one thing: I remember when I was a kid, and learning guitar; a friend of mine handed me his copy of “Hot Rocks” and said “Learn everything on this”.
So blues-based rock was the basis for my learning to shred...
From 8 to 80 and EVERYBODY on the feet.
For 3 hours.
And so good it'll blister you.
Saw Cream live- going to see Johnny Rivers and Eric Burton next week- Saw Heart do Taurus, excuse me,Stairway live. Best cover over.
Beggars ('68), Bleed ('69), Sticky ('71), Exile ('72)
The best string of studio albums in R&R history, imo.
There are millions who share your assessment, as well as most music critics.
Can’t wait to hear it.

Their ‘73 - ‘81 period was good, and occasionally (on individual songs) rose to the level of their ‘68 - ‘72 peak. After Tattoo You (’81) it was all over, imo. But every few years they record a song or two that harkens back to their original greatness.
As a live band, however, they’ve continued on at a very high level, and in some ways even got better over the decades. Mick became a better singer, for one. He’s always been a very hard worker.
Yep, this latest blues release takes us back to the early ‘60s when they were mostly a blues covers band. And a pretty darn good one at that. Not up to the level of John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, but still very good. (Just my opinion, of course).
I saw Mayall with Mick Taylor in ‘82 or ‘83 at the Roxy in L.A., and man what a show that was.
I like Star on Goatshead
I like the way it starts off
It’s my iPhone alarm song
It’s funny I like their two most ribald songs most
Stray Cat is my ringtone for Wifey
Course she ain’t 15 anymore lol
Goat’s Head had some good ones, including lesser known gems like 100 Years Ago and Winter.
On Ya Ya’s, the young Stray Cat dropped all the way down to 13. And Mick seemed to make it a point of emphasis.
You don't put Voodoo Lounge in some of their greatest work?
And Steel Wheels was at least good.
“Star”
Yeah, that sure ain’t the whole title to THAT song, haha!!!!
Uncensored...

Classic Chuck Berry opening...
and then of course the REAL title...
I wonder if they will do 2120 Michigan ave ever again
I like Keith's Talk is Cheap ('88) better than any post-'70s Stones album.
Stones were never as good after Brian Jones died.
I wore out ‘Hot Rocks’ on cassette.
Pre-ordered yours yet? LOL!
Not so much. You?
Absolutely correct.
Yeah-no. I’ll wait for it to come out on YouTube.
