Certainly having so much concrete now versus 1935 has not helped the situation either. Houses are designed differently now than back then - totally air tight and a lot of windows don’t even open. We also didn’t build one house on top of another. We had a huge attic fan and fans in every bedroom.
Clothes were dried outside on a clothes line and my mom cooked in the morning from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m., including baking a pie or cake for dinner that night.
We survived for a lot of years quite well. Remember being cold a whole lot more than I remember being hot.

Some are predicting an extra-cold winter, e.g. the
Old Farmers Almanac predicts temps to be colder than last winter but still above normal on average.

If the glo-bull warmers had been around then they would have been committing mass suicide so as not to burn up in the inferno which was to come, which did not come.
To: DuncanWaring
Should that keep up long enough, this would presage a less radiant sun and the conditions that are known during ice ages.
Phobes of global warming should be careful what they scream for. They might get it.

My best friend (Army together in the mid sixties) lives there too. Often in the Summer he sends me a photograph of his thermometer indicating just what you posted. He’s a retired Police Captain, L.A.P.D.

Did it get its name from that you’d have to be a bull head to want to keep living there? :-)

Back around 1999 while on a pheasant hunting trip to N.W. Kansas, I rented a room from a 94 year old woman who experienced the Great Dust Bowl first hand.
Listening to her experiences growing up out there in the early 1900's was unlike anything I'd ever read in a book.

Every year on the 4th of July, Oatman AZ here in Mohave County has an egg frying contest. It's a huge tradition.

Just remember that SecState Kerry says that air conditioning is a major contributor to global warming and should be banned. I wonder if he order the A/C in the State Department turned off this week to show he is leading the battle?

what is the normal anyway?Weather stats are composites of every day they have records for.
Rare occurrences of weather patterns are normal. Today is normal, it was normal two years ago when Lake Michigan froze over, it was normal when the ice caps were melting, it was normal now that they're on the way back, it's normal every day.
Enjoy the weather today, it's the only weather you have........and like they say, if you don't like it, just wait a while..........

There's real concern the Sun could soon enter another very quiet period of low to zero sunspot activity. That's what happened between 1645 and 1715, the famous
Mauunder Minimum. And during those years, we need awful winters and much shorter summers.
Alas, this is bad news for the human race. Shorter summers mean much lower agricultural output, and the human population cannot withstand a major drop in global agricultural output.
