Early in his career, Alfred Hitchcock began making small appearances in his own films. The cameos sometimes lasted just a few brief seconds, and sometimes a little while longer. Either way, they became a signature of Hitchcocks filmmaking, and fans made a sport of seeing whether they could spot the elusive director. From 1927 to 1976, Hitchcock made 37 appearances in total, and theyre all nicely catalogued by Hitchcock.TV and the clip above.

Almost everyone knows the familiar story about Buddy Ebsen and the silver paint reaction that kept him from the part of the Tin Woodsman in the The Wizard of Oz.” But did you know we still hear him in the movie? The song Were Off To See The Wizard was already done and left in the movie as is, with Ebsen singing. Was too expensive to redo.
