Early in his career, Alfred Hitchcock began making small appearances in his own films. The cameos sometimes lasted just a few brief seconds, and sometimes a little while longer. Either way, they became a signature of Hitchcock’s filmmaking, and fans made a sport of seeing whether they could spot the elusive director. From 1927 to 1976, Hitchcock made 37 appearances in total, and they’re all nicely catalogued by Hitchcock.TV and the clip above.

Regarding 'Young Frankenstein' - I was not thinking of the cat sound, but good call, Yes that is Mel Brooks doing that sound. That then means there were two cameos by Brooks. The second (the one I remembered)is he does the Howling wolf sound.

Regarding 'The Producer's: I had to look closely at that dance scene again, as I thought it was Brooks as one of the dancers! Thanks

Almost everyone knows the familiar story about Buddy Ebsen and the silver paint reaction that kept him from the part of the Tin Woodsman in the “The Wizard of Oz.” But did you know we still hear him in the movie? The song “We’re Off To See The Wizard” was already done and left in the movie as is, with Ebsen singing. Was too expensive to redo.

Thanks! I did not know the second part. I will add that to my vault of interesting but useless information. And I say that with a big smile on my face.
