A 29-year-old man is accused of holding a gun to his girlfriend's head while she breastfed their 2-week-old baby, deputies said.
The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office responded at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday to a home.
Deputies said the 22-year-old victim was breastfeeding her infant when Kevin Smith came into the bedroom, upset because she was feeding the infant breast milk from another woman.
Smith tried to take the infant away from the victim, who wouldn't give the baby to him, deputies said. Smith held the victim down on the bed and held a gun to her head and against her mouth, deputies said.
The victim's mother arrived at the home and heard screaming. Deputies said the mother saw Smith on top of her daughter, trying to roll her over so he could get the baby.
Smith went outside to his truck. The victim's mother told deputies that she took her daughter and the baby outside and put them in her husband's truck.
Smith was arrested and charged with battery, child neglect and obstructing justice.
For some reason “raising arizona” comes to mind.
Now you gimme that there baby Ned.
Baby’s gotta breast feed, Hi. You know, if we don’t breast feed him he’ll grow up to hate us, Hi.
Aw, now, I don’t want that, but shucks Hi, the little feller’s had enough....
don’t you point that gun at me, HI
Thank you for the explanation. That was my guess of what the author meant.
I think poor writing skills are a prerequisite in journalism today.

No, the young woman’s mother put the young woman and baby in her husband’s (mother’s husband) truck.
Right! Then come to find out the woman was not even breastfeeding the infant, she was feeding it someone else’s breast milk, donated (frozen?) from a bottle. This took extra steps for her to do, which shows some dedication on her part. CC, your thought of it possibly being due to her drug use — I hope not. I wish better for her & the baby than that!
Someone really messed this one up at OKV.
It was a bit convoluted the way it was written.
It’s bad enough when “news reportage” is really opinion or propaganda, but it’s really annoying when you can’t even figure out what face (accurate or not) the writer is attempting to convey.
Sure was. Read like a version of “I’m My Own Grandpa.”
“face” s/b “facts”
Who says I can tpye?
“Breast” in headline = more internet hits
Honest to Pete, is it something in the Florida water? The weirdest of weird stories are always Florida.
Mom and my two aunts passed me around a lot, a never ending source of amusement for them, lol.
This soap opera could keep television ratings for a couple of years. It sounds like a day General Hospital. Only at some point they went off script as the title of the article misleads to begin with.
And if she’s breastfeeding her infant and it’s not the infant’s milk, then whose milk is she sending through her breast?
“Deputies said the 22-year-old victim was breastfeeding her infant when Kevin Smith came into the bedroom, upset because she was feeding the infant breast milk from another woman.”
Help me here, I’m confused. The article didn’t say the guy with the gun was breast feeding, just the breast feeder’s infant. Someone at the news source needs a refresher course on journalism.

It is possible that Kevin Smith is so stupid that he believes his girlfriend could breastfeed her infant with another woman’s milk. To be fair to Kevin, though, ignorance of breastfeeding is profound even among medical personnel.
I’ve been trying to figure it out. My guess is she was bottle feeding her baby breast milk from another woman.
Unless somehow her breasts had been injected with another woman’s breast milk??
Ever hear of a breast pump? Our daughter, and now our niece pump excess milk and freeze it for feeding the child at other times, like when Mom’s back to work. There are hand operated pumps as well as electric.....that can even be run off the car cigar lighter socket.
“Upwhacked”
Not side-whacked?
“Upwhacked” is technical term used in discussing language-garble.
I guess “side whacked” is more applicable to argle-bargle.
Since “side-whacked” arose from “sideways,” a colloquial term for “drunk,” I think you’re correct.
