While there are many posters here who enlighten and inform me, the thing that has me unable to tear myself away from Free Republic are the rantings and ravings, on sociopolitical issues, by a host of keyboard warriors who frequent this site.
Been here for year’s it only affects cooking, cleaning and social life. LOL

That hasn’t happened. I guess FR is just a habit. That’s a load off my mind.

Go to http://www.lucianne.com and make a critical remark about George Bush or just post an article with a single sentence and you will be banned.

The Doctor says, by definition, a dysfunctional behavior is an Addiction only if it prevents you from doing some alternative meaningful activity.
Since there is no more meaningful activity than Free Republic,
then it is NOT an ADDICTION ! :-)

Same story. Signed up in ‘98. Lost original username in 2000 when I changed to Amos The Prophet. Jim helped me change to my actual name a few years ago. I have not gone more than a few days without FR since my first lurk. It is not an addiction. It is a life style.

LOL! I got banned from lucianne for posting where their banned poster ended up back in the late 90’s. Sounds like the place hasn’t changed one bit!
Soon after ended up here, got addicted and went cold turkey 10 years ago. Been lurking mainly ever since.
But I figured out I’m not addicted to FR, I’m addicted to knowledge and freedom.
The fact that I’ve been here since 1998 might give you a clue that you are not alone. I survived the Clinton Wars, the Gore/Bush Wars, and the obama Wars. Surviving this November may not be possible. Depends on the outcome whether or not I fold it in or not.
