UNITED NATIONS (AP) -- Even though the explosive spread of the Zika virus has been met with a new level of international response, thanks to lessons learned from the Ebola crisis, experts warn they are only beginning to grasp the damage the mosquito-borne virus can do.

Doctors speaking at a U.N. meeting on Global Health Crises said Monday that the Zika virus has already affected 60 countries on four continents, and a major outbreak on the Atlantic Ocean island nation of Cape Verde suggests the disease is now poised to enter continental Africa. Zika has already become epidemic in Latin America and the Caribbean.

I’m thinking it will make a resurgence the closer it gets to the United States.

If they are only beginning to grasp, how can they be considered experts?

Might be time to dust off the DDT sprayers.

(from the article) :".. a major outbreak on the Atlantic Ocean island nation of Cape Verde suggests the disease is now poised to enter continental Africa."

The Cape Verde area is a system of Volcanic archipelago islands located about 350 miles West ,off the Africa Coast in the Atlantic Ocean.
I believe that the prevailing winds are Westerly winds blowing towards the mid-Atlantic.

If they can’t support a place with tourism, maybe they should allow residents to produce something instead.

Think about this. Put these together.

How much money and effort do you think the govt of Venezuela is putting into anti-Zika programs in the summer of 2016? While they are having starvation food riots?

Zero.

So, not only is Zika coming, but we have reintroduced many other diseases with our wide-open borders and insane unscreened refugee programs.

If we have a financial collapse, EBT down, food riots, etc. (Venezuala X 50), how will we deal with rampant epidemics?

Anybody thinking out five-six years, to the midst of a financial collapse, with all these infectious bugs let loose?

Any brainiacs on TV talking about it?

No.

Cape Verdes are joined at the hip to Africa. Forget the wind, it’s the people going to and fro.

If it’s in the Cape Verdes now, it’s in sub-Saharan Africa next year.

The wild spread and devastation of this virus that is transmitted by mosquitoes is the result of the pseudoscience that resulted in the banning of DDT

Two books in the 20th Century killed more than 60 million people each:

You are correct. And if memory serves, the Cape Verdes region is also where many Atlantic hurricanes originate. Woo hoo! Zika and hurricanes!

We could do like those in Baltimore, and Chicago, and Ferguson. Just burn down the neighborhood. Fire will destroy the virus in those that burn in the fires.

Then , the ruling elite can buy up the land cheap and rebuild. Slavery will be legal again, so the cost of rebuilding will be low.

DDT was made illegal because it worked and it was cheap. It was not harmful to humans. No one could get rich off of that. Had to make it illegal, so that manufacturers could come up with tons of different 'chemical mixtures' for each different type of insect, and boy is the crap expensive.

And , it barely works.

The pesticides that do work are restricted to approved Pesticide applicators, who have to get a permit from the EPA. The only reason Rachel Carson succeeded in her quest was because the wealthy elite saw a way to make more money off selling crap that doesn't work. Laundry soap, Dishwashing liquid, detergent period. Doesn't work anymore. Phosphates (the only thing that cleaned the clothes) made illegal.

Look at a box of laundry detergent sometime. Most contain 99% INERT INGREDIENTS (ground up dog bones. Which make your clothes stiff. So... you have to buy clothes softener. Mo money, mo money, mo money. It's always about the money.

“rare neurological syndrome that can cause death or temporary paralysis.”

That may be GBS or Guillain-Barré (Ghee-yan Bah-ray) Syndrome is an inflammatory disorder of the peripheral nerves outside the brain and spinal cord.

It’s also called:

Acute Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy
Landry’s Ascending Paralysis

GBS is characterized by the rapid onset of numbness, weakness, and often paralysis of the legs, arms, breathing muscles, and face. Paralysis is ascending, meaning that it travels up the limbs from fingers and toes towards the torso.GBS came to public attention briefly when it struck a number of people who received the 1976 swine flu vaccine. Although not in the news as much today, it continues to claim thousands of new victims each year, striking any one at any age, regardless of gender or ethnic background.

The rapid onset of weakness, frequently accompanied by abnormal sensations (numbness, tingling) that affect both sides of the body similarly, is common. Loss of reflexes, such as the knee jerk, are usually found.

http://www.gbs-cidp.org/gbs/all-about-gbs/

I got this lovely affliction in 1976 after getting a swine flu shot. I was miserable for about 2 months, and decades later, when I am really tired, my upper jawbones feel like an oral surgeon had worked on them and the lidocaine is slowly wearing off.

Flash forward to this year, a friend with Parkinson’s Disease ends up in the hospital and can’t swallow solid food. After listening his wife describe his symptoms, I asked his wife if he had a flu shot. She said no, I wrote down GBS and suggested she ask her husband’s neurologist about GBS as factor. The neurologist agreed that was the problem.

Another friend had a stroke and besides the normal stroke problems she couldn’t swallow. I informed her family and about our mutual friend, and they asked the doctors, and they kept her on a liquid diet for a month.

Both are coming around. We have had one case of Zika Virus diagnosed in our county, and the biggest outpatient lab does not test for the virus.

The stuff they took out of laundry detergent is sold in hardware stores for "deck cleaning". It is at Home Depot and Lowes as: TSP Trisodium Phosphate (brand: Savogran). About $11 a box. Put a tablespoon or two into each load. Viola...cleaner clothes.
