The woman "was able to physically remove her son from the mountain lion" and the boy's father called 911 as he drove his son to hospital, the sheriff added.
A hospital spokeswoman said the child sustained injuries to his face, head and neck and was in fair condition. His mother was treated for injuries to her hands and legs and released.

Have you been to Aspen? It’s in the mountains in Colorado. “The wild” is right over *there* < points about 50 yards away>.
A firearm in a caliber suited to the predator likely to be encountered in the area is the preferable way of dealing with this situation,...
Conservative gun owners understand this...Leftards, not so much...
Which is why the vast majority of animal attack vics are Leftards...Conservatives go about in the woods and their remote property suitably armed...
Nature’s way...Predators pick off the weak, slow and the stupid, and thereby improve the herd...
I see no downside...
NOT ALLOWED!
:)
The one surefire method I know to get large animals to stop doing whatever it is they are doing is to put pressure on their eyeballs. If it is a life or death situation dig your finger(s) into the eye sockets as far as you can.
If an animal is attacking you, a sharp blow to the end of the nose will give it a pause. That is a move they don’t know how to defend themselves from.
I have always thought the eyeball thing would be a good way to protect yourself from a person who grabs you by surprise. When I walk across a parking lot to my car, I have my keys in my hand with poking a key into the eyeball of an attacker in mind. I am small and old and I might not be able to pull it off but I would try. Never thought of doing that to an animal.
If you shove a key into someone’s eye, all efforts to attack you will immediately cease. Do not aim for one eye, aim for the bridge of their nose. That way no matter which way they turn their head, you will be on target.
Good suggestion, thanks.
Are you a politician?
I have always heard that it's best for all politicians to be spayed or neutered! Should be mandatory!
I do pray that you, your physicians, nurses, technicians... the entire staff are in top form for your procedure.
LOL! No I am a 75 year old woman, wife, mother and grandmother and I am not looking forward to this thing but I do thank you for your prayers.
she did good, but I think I would have gone for the eyes. What a horrible thing for a mother to see...
Hey Coloradans!
I was just there 5 days ago
Is that on the aspen side of Pearl Pass
I tried to drive over from Crested Butte but lotsa snow over 10,000
Some fresh even
Damn I love Colorado....always have
our ancestors were a lot smarter than many of todays people, they killed all predators where they lived and for quite a large area around their homes. The only ones that stayed alive and reproduced didn’t take their babies around humans...
LOL good one daffy...
And put them on your shoulders so you look bigger. Charge the cat yelling and making a commotion. They will likely back down. The exception is if the cat is sick or rabid.
I have bear, mountain lion, coyote, eagles, owls and deer in my yard regularly. I am at the edge of a nature preserve but very much in the city otherwise. My viking kitties are not allowed outside as they would be a snack for most of the critters around.
I am not afraid of any of them. I know their habits and how to act around them so as not to have a confrontation or get hurt. The wild animals too! (not just the viking kitties
MY kitties would love to go romp but too many predators too.
