The woman "was able to physically remove her son from the mountain lion" and the boy's father called 911 as he drove his son to hospital, the sheriff added.

A hospital spokeswoman said the child sustained injuries to his face, head and neck and was in fair condition. His mother was treated for injuries to her hands and legs and released.

Aspen Co. Just like Chicongo! Wild animals! But no lake.

I prefer firearms for these type of situations. That is why several readily accessible firearms are placed around the house.

That could be used if for some reason I did not have one on my person.

There have been three fatal mountain lion attacks in Colorado since 1991.

Last time I checked, mountain lions are not bullet proof. Neither are coyotes or wolves.

911 is not an option when hiking in the wilderness.

A GUN would have maybe scared the damned thing off.

Always carry in the wild. Never know what you’l run into.

I wonder what she did to make the animal let go of her son. I have Jack Russel Terriers and occasionally the 2 males will fight. The only way I can break them up is to drag the dogs outside and turn the water hose on them until they think they are drowning.

If you see a predator in the wild, you should always pick up any small children in your party.

If you have too many small children to pick up, pick up your favorite............

The 5 year old boy was playing in the yard with his 8 year old brother next to the house. Not in the wild.

MY guess, is that she stepped on the cougar, it reacted by biting her leg, thus letting go of the child.
And her leg injuries.

Same situation as Disney World. There everyone is looking for somebody to file a case on. The fact is you can’t keep an eye on your kids all the time.

Wild animals are just that, WILD! Predators are doing their thing, hunting easy prey! Children are, by size definition, easy prey. Difference here is that, unlike Disney, there is no aura of the Magic Kingdom where all is marshmallows and creme-puffs. We lost a puppy to a large raccoon in the Low Country of South Carolina and it did make us wake up a bit. Dangers lurk all around and the wise person, especially a parent, never should lose their awareness of possible peril.

Disney might be culpable as they had a prior “Gator” attack thus putting them on notice of a dangerous condition.

What a bunch of liberal, feel good, claptrap.

Their problems are sure to worsen.

We have two Australian Shepherds, who are no longer best friends.
I used a can of pepper spray and a chair, like a lion tamer.
My wife had the other one.
Incredibly fast and strong!!!

A friend’s dogs had a disagreement. He is younger, fast strong and very athletic.
His left hand look like it had been through a meat grinder!
Only in a few places could they stitch, it took forever to heal!
He said it was so fast he did not know which dog got him!!!

this state is getting worse and worse. heathen hordes from California, Illinois, and New York have been moving here en masse for the past several years. the Denver real estate market is ridiculous right now. almost as bad as Silicon Valley. this state is turning more and more “blue”. the infection known as liberalism spreads as their carriers migrate to other parts of the country. i hate to leave here because of them, but i have no desire to live in a state where my vote doesn’t count. that’s the direction it’s heading. in another 10 years, this state will be no different than California... 1-party rule at the state level and federal level (for all intents and purposes).
