The FDA warned doctors and patients Tuesday, June 7, 2016, that over-the-counter and prescription anti-diarrhea drugs, including Imodium, can cause potentially deadly heart problems when taken in large doses.... The primary ingredient in prescription Imodium and similar over-the-counter drugs is intended to control diarrhea. But abusers sometimes try to achieve heroin-like highs by taking massive doses, up to 300 milligrams at once, according to cases in the medical literature. Recommended doses range between 8 milligrams and 16 milligrams per day.

IIRC long ago Ex-Lax had a similar appearance to M&M’s.
It was considered ‘fun’ to mix them with M&M’s.
Times have changed!
One of the worst things to have happen on a long plane trip is to have to do a no. 2. Thus, just before I go to the airport, I take 2 Imodiums. Worked every time so far. Indeed, the US Bureau of Prisons does something similar for ConAir flights; they feed the cons food that binds.
That's another reason for following the "Eat to Live" regimen (Dr. Joel Fuhrman). Basically a "greens and beans" diet. I've strayed from it, and my blood sugar has risen as a result.
Anyhow, the point I'm trying to make is if you follow the regimen, GI issues will disappear.
I've been type II for 3 years now, and I'm controlling it with diet and exercise...no meds.
The Saigon Civilian airport(Tan Son Nhut)1968, I don't think Imodium existed, and they had not yet discovered toilet paper! Government issue underwear is made with lots of fabric, when cut into small squares, never enough!
Both Michael Jackson and Prince got their Rx prescriptions
sanctified by medical doctors. That didnt work out so well.
I say if idiots want to abuse OTC drugs and they wind up dead thats their problem. Leave the rest of us alone if we want to take a crapper stopper pill when necessary.
If I ever even LOOKED at that stuff, I’d probably never poop again.
Shredded coconut is great for stopping diarrhea.
Kids are always finding some substance that will cause them to feel weird and convincing themselves that it is somehow fun. I am glad that most of them have now decided that sniffing gasoline fumes is not pleasant. I thought the big thing right now was eating a certain type of plant seeds (which I will not mention) available almost everywhere.
“The primary ingredient in the drugs, loperamide, is intended to control diarrhea. But the drug can reportedly cause euphoric highs, similar to opioid drugs like morphine, when taken at massive levels.”
So it’s probably folks getting their opioid/benzo pill source restricted and using this as a replacement instead of heroin or something. It must be pretty bad out there. This and all the commercials for opioid constipation medication are not good signs.
Freegards
Would that be applied topically? Oh my!
Can’t we just let the fools who OD on Immodium die? I don’t want to have to turn over my ID to buy a bottle every few months like with Sudafed.
500 mg of Vitamin B1-Thiamine daily seems to work if you got a bug that lasts more than a few hours..
