Ted Cruz Says Fight Not Over with GOP Convention Nearing (Wants to CANCEL Open Primaries )
Christian Post ^ | May 16, 2016 | LIEZL DUNUAN

Ted Cruz and his allies are preparing for the coming National GOP Convention. According to NBC News, Cruz who recently attended a GOP convention in Texas told his supporters that the days ahead will be "challenging" for the Republican Party. He, however, expressed hope that those who remain loyal to him and the party "will be the remnant, will be the core of pulling this country back from the abyss."

Aside from this pronouncement, [he] has remained mum about whether he will throw his support for presumptive nominee Donald Trump. According to the NBC report, the support of Cruz and his allies in Texas is needed by Trump if he is squaring off with Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton for the presidential elections. A Texan party elder, Steve Munisteri said that "Ted Cruz has led a national movement, a conservative movement. We certainly need solid conservatives to be behind our nominee [Trump.]"

... Cruz and his allies in the Republican Party are EYEING TO CONTINUE THEIR FIGHT TO RUN THE PARTY. Despite his failure to win over Trump, ... he is still hoping that when he attends the National Convention,... he will be able to bring about key changes in how the party governs itself and picks its presidential nominee. Aside from changes in rules, the party will also be working out its "official policy platform" as well as "determine how much power the RNC has to make new rules of its own."

>>The key discussion points, which will also be the likely flash points during the convention, will include CLOSED PRIMARIES. THIS MEANS DOING AWAY WITH OPEN PRIMARIES AND THE "CONSCIENCE CLAUSE," which will RELEASE CONSERVATIVE DELEGATES FROM SUPPORTING THE PRESUMPTIVE DELEGATE, should that delegate represent views that contradict theirs or the party.

Many Independents are quite conservative and while they find the GOP disgusting, they will gladly vote for a Conservative Republican. Closed primaries would prevent Independents from voting. In NC they can vote in either primary but only in one not both. Great way to alienate Independents to tell them they have no say unless they become another GOP.

In order to be legal, he either has to be born here, or have some form of citizenship paper saying he is, so he would have to show this and if he couldn’t, couldn’t that prove criminal malfeasance?

If I understand the concept of the closed primary, I agree with him.

I agree also - but it is over.

Unless he wants to pull a John Belushi Animal House speech and shout 'Was it over when the Nazis bombed Pearl Harbor? It isn't over until we say it is over!!'

It is over, and time to get behind Trump and slay the Hildebeast.
Trump leans left, but he is willing to say things that no other politicians say; and I believe he is serious about protecting the borders, and he seriously recognizes the Islamic threat.
Everything else -- 'eh' ... But I'll take those two.

He has legal reasons to DQ some delegates and to unseat the entire state of Colorado delegation.

Four Colorado state senators voted out Colorado Primaries this year and they are all on TeamCruz leadership committee. 2 of them are Cruz delegates.

I'd say he has a loose screw at this point.

And he took a week off from the Senate??

He's had a whole year off.

Steve Munisteri was nothing but positive in running the Texas GOP. I’m not sure how contributions affected Cruz since this began, but prior to this primary election he was a force for good in the Senate.

The fact that Boehner called him Satan, is the highest complement he could receive. Boehner is that sold out.

I don’t think it’s a fake article. The stopping of primaries was discussed at the April meeting in Florida. -Curly

Poor man is so delusional. He should quit politics and go on the snake-oil circuit with his dad.

It would be beautiful if Texans would come together and do that even before the convention.

Bing is now projecting 1488 delegates for Trump before going to the convention.

He doesn’t have “to be born here” to qualify for a Senate seat, only for the presidency. If he is a citizen of any sort, he is eligible for the Senate. I don’t see criminal malfeasance anywhere, just politics as usual.

When do you hear Erikson say this?

It was floated in April, and I suspect it is Curly Haugland’s idea. (ND)

Who wants non Republicans picking Republican candidates?

Who wants slaves to the GOPe picking RINOs for the nominee?

Those "non-Republicans" are independents who burned their Republican cards, only to come back when they saw Trump was running. If Republicans acted like Republicans, then yes, we should have closed primaries.
