Ted Cruz Says Fight Not Over with GOP Convention Nearing (Wants to CANCEL Open Primaries )

Ted Cruz and his allies are preparing for the coming National GOP Convention. According to NBC News, Cruz who recently attended a GOP convention in Texas told his supporters that the days ahead will be "challenging" for the Republican Party. He, however, expressed hope that those who remain loyal to him and the party "will be the remnant, will be the core of pulling this country back from the abyss."

Aside from this pronouncement, [he] has remained mum about whether he will throw his support for presumptive nominee Donald Trump. According to the NBC report, the support of Cruz and his allies in Texas is needed by Trump if he is squaring off with Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton for the presidential elections. A Texan party elder, Steve Munisteri said that "Ted Cruz has led a national movement, a conservative movement. We certainly need solid conservatives to be behind our nominee [Trump.]"

... Cruz and his allies in the Republican Party are EYEING TO CONTINUE THEIR FIGHT TO RUN THE PARTY. Despite his failure to win over Trump, ... he is still hoping that when he attends the National Convention,... he will be able to bring about key changes in how the party governs itself and picks its presidential nominee. Aside from changes in rules, the party will also be working out its "official policy platform" as well as "determine how much power the RNC has to make new rules of its own."

>>The key discussion points, which will also be the likely flash points during the convention, will include CLOSED PRIMARIES. THIS MEANS DOING AWAY WITH OPEN PRIMARIES AND THE "CONSCIENCE CLAUSE," which will RELEASE CONSERVATIVE DELEGATES FROM SUPPORTING THE PRESUMPTIVE DELEGATE, should that delegate represent views that contradict theirs or the party.

I wonder what would happen if Dewhurst ran against Cruz again for the US Senate?

Cruz had better rehabilitate himself to get re-elected and this narrowing of the voters business is not the finest way to start, given he can’t win in the open field and has to pull stuff to succeed.

I am furious with Cruz. I saw Dewhurst at the State Convention. He is not hiding under a rock.

You might explain how that happens. You mean primaried and lose or just be refused to be seated by the Senate (they can do that).

Who wants non Republicans picking Republican candidates? The Pary gets enough of that with the MSM helping to pick our candidates.

Arguing for closed primaries is one thing, but trying to unbind the delegates on the first ballot is patently absurd. Bound delegates is the whole reason that people vote in primaries in the first place.

Ted Cruz wants a system that is even MORE rigged for insiders, like the Democrat party with its superdelegates.

Cruz is trying to be subversive of the democratic process as this point. What a conservative hero. He's lost his friggin' mind.

Oh, and, by the way, Donald Trump won many closed primaries this cycle. About the only thing Cruz could reliably win was caucuses, which rely on collective groupthink and strong-arming by the party apparatchiks. This guy is becoming a joke.

Vote Trump!

Of course it is, and since it isn't going to happen, I don't know that we can attack it from any new angle.

Ted Cruz wants a system that is even MORE rigged for insiders, like the Democrat party with its superdelegates.

The only first hand experience I have on this is in my own neighborhood. Cruz hasn't tried to rig anything here.

Cruz is trying to be subversive of the democratic process as this point. What a conservative hero. He's lost his friggin' mind.

I suspect Cruz was the first in his group to know it wasn't going his way this year. Along the way to that realization he did and tried nothing undemocratic in Minnesota.

I promise all of his supporters in this state know he won't be the nominee this year.

Oh, and, by the way, Donald Trump won many closed primaries this cycle. About the only thing Cruz could reliably win was caucuses, which rely on collective groupthink and strong-arming by the party apparatchiks. This guy is becoming a joke.

I live in a caucus state. There is real effort in attending a caucus. People that attend tend to be opinionated. These things can get riot-like. About the time anyone tried to force a view down another's throat the argument would get way beyond verbal.

Vote Trump!

Seems like that's the plan. If you really are a Trump supporter, it's time for you to take, "Yes," for an answer. Cruz is done this year. Your opponent through the first part of November is a Democrat.

He can want to all he wants but legally he can’t. Open primaries are the results of legal action in most states that have them... If the state has a primary they must be open... So not sure what hocus pocus Cruz thinks he can pull on this but the simple reality is ideology as a driver for political parties is far more illusion than reality anymore. Both drive for the same goals for the same money men while offering ideology as cover to the masses...

This is why both parties are facing open rebellion against their establishments.
