Wilson is not around. Really almost nobody wants to hear from him and, bless his soul, he keeps out of sight. But yes, the paper says he’s endorsed Cruz. Nobody will notice that, and the few that do will mostly look for another candidate to vote for instead of Cruz.
It’s not that he’s running against Trump, it’s that he has abandoned all principles to do so. He outright lies about all of Trumps positions, he makes deals to screw the voters out of a say, then brags about it, etc. The final straw for a lot of people here was when he blamed Trump for the organized leftwing anti-Trump riot in Chicago, parroting Hillary’s talking point that “Trump created a climate of violence”, when the left has been shutting down speech they don’t like for decades. Since then every time he opens his mouth it’s “Donald...” followed by a deliberate lie like, “Donald want’s to gut the 2nd amendment.” Every time he does he digs himself deeper into the pit he’s in. And that in turn tells us that he never was what we thought he was to start with.

As to Bushies and Cruz being friends, there is no love lost between those two and there was always friction. Bush tolerated Cruz because he was an excellent lawyer for the state and Cruz tolerated Bush because he was the boss and Cruz felt he had a job to do. You will never see them break bread, none.
