Matt Drudge, founder of the Drudge Report, and Charles Hurt, editor of the Drudge Report, have come under fire from many in the grassroots for turning the site, which was put on the map by the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky affair, into a shill site for the presidential campaign of Donald Trump.
The Drudge Report has made a name for itself during this election cycle of being part of the thug-style hitman team of Donald Trump in attacking his closest rival, constitutional conservative Ted Cruz . At the same time, the Drudge Report has used its influence to pump up Donald Trump with positive, glorification stories and padded polls. But there was a big change on Drudge this morning and if Matt Drudge and Charles Hurt are trying to save face, this is not the way to do it because it reveals that they will rather not talk about Trump at all if it can’t be completely positive.
A search on the Drudge Report this morning revealed that there is not one story about Trump on the site, at least as of 9:14 am Pacific. Go ahead, try it. Go to the Drudge Report, hit control-F on your keyboard, then type in Trump. Not one story, positive or negative, though Drudge and Hurt never put what could be seen as a negative story about Trump on the site.
On Thursday, Donald Trump made numerous controversial remarks including stating he will raise taxes on the wealthy, a stance in line with wild-eyed socialists Democrat presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, and also suggested that the Republican party redefine human life by excluding those lives conceived in rape and incest.
In addition, Mr. Anti-PC Trump took the most politically correct stance possible in regards to the North Carolina Bathroom Bill which states that people need to use the restroom in the facility that matches the gender on their birth certificate. Trump bowed down to the god of political correctness and opposed this bill, calling it wrong.
None of that is on Drudge.
Also on Thursday, Trump’s convention manager Paul Manafort, the man who has Soviet ties and has lobbied for the Palestinians, by the way that wasn’t on Drudge either, told individuals at a GOP meeting in Florida that Trump’s campaign so far has all been an act and that he would “evolve” soon into the real Donald Trump, whatever that means. That story is nowhere to be found on Drudge.
So, what gives Drudge? Could it be that after the disgusting attacks on Christianity that you have put out to help Donald Trump as you disparaged Ted Cruz and the baseless National Enquirer hit pieces against Cruz that you ciriculated as fact, you have seen viewership decrease? Is that the reason for this sudden removal of your pro-Trump links?
In addition to the #NeverTrump campaign, there has been a growing #DumpDrudge campaign as people have gotten sick of the way the Drudge Report, a once trusted aggregator site of news for conservatives, has turned itself into Trump’s personal Pravda with Matt Drudge and Charles Hurt serving as two of Trump’s numerous hitmen.
There is a news alternative to the Drudge Report, without the Miley Cyrus-style gossip, that conservatives have begun to turn to. It’s called The Liberty Daily and, in full disclosure, it is run by myself and my husband, Matthew Burke.
This site was not started in response to the Drudge Report working as part of Trump’s unofficial propaganda machine, but the more it became obvious that the Drudge Report had sold its soul and lost its conservative credentials in pumping Trump, the more word of The Liberty Daily has spread.
Don’t get snowed over by the sudden revamping of the Drudge Report. Both Matt Drudge and Charles Hurt are complicit in the rise of Donald Trump and his attempted destruction of conservativism. Perhaps they are trying to “evolve” simultaneously with Trump after “playing a part” in his campaign.
Too late.
The Drudge Report has already shown its cards and revealed that it can no longer be trusted.
Just in case you don’t believe that Drudge appears to have scrubbed its site of all Trump propaganda, and all gossip about Cruz presented as news for that matter, here are screenshots of the stories currently listed on Drudge. Notice, there are far fewer links than are truly on the site.

As others have pointed out, Drudge is just giving it a rest while we’re in between primaries, even moreso with the death of a pop icon. If he truly had it out for Trump, he would use his barrels of digital ink to play up anti-Trump news stories just like all the other hateTrump sites. But there are none.
I’m sure we’ll see another batch of Trump-talk real soon now.
There was something years ago, don’t even remember, that pissed us off here at FR and everybody said they would never go to that site again. Looks like some went back I never have.

people have their freedom. They may be and feel free to exercise it. But attacking the presumed nominee is probably not the best bet at this time.
I’m still weighing my support of Trump. His inconsistencies really bother me, especially his comments yesterday that seemed to change as the day progressed. Is this not a concern?
I remember something about that. The only thing that got to me about Drudge website was all the spyware he was dumping on my computer there for a while. He knocked that off now or got better at not slowing down my computer.
I check his site three times a day. And for sure you can see that he feeds Rush and Hannity. Drudge has been doing that for a long time. They get a bunch of their talk from his website. They don't mention it but you can follow right along as they read the headlines almost verbatim.
My take is he really doesn't care that much about social issues. He's mostly about Americans first, fixing a broke system, and protecting the public. Thus on social issues he tends to work with a position until he find a fit that works with the public and moves onto what he views as more the import issues. I wouldn't expect him to do any Obama/Bush style crusading on social issues.
My guess is under Trump he'll deliver conservative judges, tell feds to stop abusing the states on states issues and work mostly on our economic and immigration problems which frankly are the only problems that matter right now. A few more years of illegal immigration and the GOP will never win another election.

What if it happens that tRump takes positions closer to the hated, low-energy Jeb! in order to please the despised GOPe and at least not look like a raving maniac, unelectable in the GE against Hillary to people who aren’t exactly small government, constitutional conservatives? Will YOU then ride the lightening bolt?

There are some things he’s going to do.
He’s going to build the wall
He’s going to stop illegal immigration
He’s going to cut the balls off china in upcoming trade deals
Same for Mexico and other people who take advantage of so-called free trade
He’s going to export Millions of illegals whodon’t belong here
he’s going to make nato pay their fair share
He’s going to repeal and replace Obamacare
He’s going to rebuild the military
he’s going to support the veterans
And if he only gets two or three of those items done in 4 tears
I’ll still call it a good first term.
