Republicans desperate to stop Donald Trump from capturing the party's presidential nomination are wrestling with whether to unite behind Ted Cruz, a polarizing figure popular with the conservative Tea Party movement.
Cruz, 45, a U.S. senator from Texas, won nominating contests in Kansas and Maine on Saturday, bolstering his argument that he is the leading alternative to Trump, 69, the blunt-spoken billionaire businessman.
Mainstream Republicans are unhappy with Trump's calls to build a wall on the border with Mexico, deport 11 million illegal immigrants and temporarily bar all Muslims from entering the United States.
Many establishment Republicans are reluctant, however, to rally behind Cruz, whom they see as too conservative for the general electorate in the Nov. 8 election to succeed Democratic President Barack Obama.

It’s not a tough choice. For me anyway.
Probably not. Not at this point. And I’m pretty sure Trump has made it clear that he doesn’t want Cruz as his VP.
But then again Trump changes his mind every other day...
This is not such a hard choice. Although I am fed up with Trump’s crassness, Cruz will make legal all the illegal immigration and bad trade deals and go for the globalist nightmare in opposition to the good of the citizens of America.
He is poison for the sovereignty of America.
In the last couple of debates, Cruz teamed up with Rube-o against Trump. That made the decision extremely obvious.
Cruz is still better than Trump on many issues, but he is willing to make peace with the GOP-e. Nothing else can be accomplished until the heads of the GOP-e roll lifelessly off the guillotine stage, to be infested by the least offensive type of maggot instead of their usual maggots.
Hope he isn’t asked. By the way voting trump will be easy March 15th.
the last couple of debates showed Cruz is willing to be part of the establishment to take out Trump and that was not good for him.
Not a tough choice for me. Cruz is not eligible and neither is Rubio. Cruz thinks he can get away with his votes against American Sovereignty. It will all catch up with him.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TRUMP!!!!!
MAybe Trump should put his children in all the major roles in the Republican party. The Trumpican Party.
Yawn
Many in the establishment prefer a 3rd option: Hillary
I don't know if he would consider it, should Trump win.
I DO know that unless there's a gun at their head, the GOPe will NEVER support Cruz......since he's one of the major participants to the "birth" of the revolt we are seeing this election cycle.
That fact made voting for Cruz VERY satisfying to me last week......LOL
The litany of supposed sins Ted Cruz has committed that get regurgitated on every single one of these threads with virtually no substantiation continues to amaze me.
After the Ohio and Florida primaries on March 15, Trump and Cruz should agree to run as a team.
The one with the fewer delegates drops out and throws his support to the other, who then selects the 2nd place guy to be his VP candidate.
I have my preference, but I think as many of you, either of these two gents would make a good President and together would knock off Hillary in the general election.
There you have it. The winner is the only one left standing and has all the delegates necessary, way more than 1,237 necessary.
Screw you GOP establishment, Reince Reibus, Mitt Romney, and the other PHONIES, who are really despicable and not interested in GOP voters..
Suddenly we have a GOP T-E-A-M and we can all unite behind and overwhelm HILLARY CLINTON THE CRIMINAL.
Like not an NBC?
