I would reccomend the Sandbaggers too. Made and set contemporously in 1978-1980, its a kind of anti-James Bond. But its very very good. I preferred it to tinker-tailor-soldier spy.

I think most of the real classic comedies have been mentioned. If you like to learn and laugh I would push QI as well, and Horrible Histories is very funny, even if it is officially for children.

Erm, no.

People think he is the cream of UK comedy, but much as I like him, he really really isn’t.

The 1950s/60s US comedies like Griffith were a flop in the UK, we found and find them far too twee. The one we loved and love is Bilko.

I didn’t get where I was today by watching inferior remakes of classics.

The Carry Ons are hugely popular here, they are a huge part of UK culture/pop culture. As much as The Beatles or James Bond.

Aye, I’ve cut down from eight to two pies a day and I’m not drinking as much (don’t drink, so there’s that). My fave character, among the many on the show- is Navi and his hindi translated speaking biotch of a wife. Indi-english w/ a scottish accent. Hilarious.

Heretic!.

Tinker Tailor and Smiley’s People are 24 carat gold classics.

Personally I enjoyed both.

And in that vein, we cannot leave out another classic: Callan. Fantastic series.
