It may sound crazy now but it's very possible Trump will pick Cruz as VP [vanity]

Posted on 02/16/2016 7:04:51 PM PST by springwater13

At the end of the day, it's about business. Trump doesn't have the organization Cruz does and won't want to spend the money to build it from scratch. Picking Cruz as Veep allows him to get his organization "wholesale" out of "bankruptcy" at a price that can't be beat "free."

Donald's not stupid. He'll make the deal if Cruz is agreeable to it and they can figure out a working partnership.

I know you are not a deep thinker but please for goodness sake answer that question.

I do not converse with the likes of you, was only reminded of who you were and how disagreeable your posting style is, been a while since I noticed one.

Go coordinate some naps now.

Yes, I think you are right. My Mother, who lives in NM and is a union-loving, old style democrat, absolutely hates her... So, Suzanna would be a good choice!

The first element of VP selection will be the possible need for delegates if Trump doesn't collect enough.

Another, but secondary element, might be the need to unify the party.

The third, after Trump has already collected all the delegates he needs and the party seems unified, is the need to select a Veep who can help Trump draw the most votes (i.e. independents and moderate dems) in the General Election.

If all the above needs are met, Trump will want to select a VP that can help him govern...and he has already said this will be a politician who knows how to navigate the system.

Yeah, it does sound crazy. And no, I’m not willing to conceded that Trump isn’t stupid.

I wouldn't doubt it. Reagan and Bush hated each other.

Reagan never publicly said Bush was ineligible to be president.

If naming Cruz as VP will do it, it will happen.

Why on earth would Cruz accept?

Let Cruz be AG and have a major say in selection of justices. Plus, Cruz can see the logic in this.

You honestly think Cruz would give up a senate seat for a place in a Trump cabinet? Really?

You are right. Kasich delivers Ohio.

The way Ryan delivered Wisconsin?

If that is Cruz, he will pick Cruz.

Assuming Cruz doesn't tell Trump to go pound sand, how does Trump walk back his public statements that Cruz is ineligible?

You seem to have an endless supply of reasons why Trump should pick Cruz. Now give us one reason why Cruz should accept?

My guess is Jesse Ventura. He has governing experience (which Trimp lacks) and he’s the only choice that will make Trump look sane in comparison.

Trump will not pick Cruz, he will pick someone much more liberal.

Really? Yes

Maybe I need to include a disclaimer. I do not personally know Ted Cruz and in any case I am in not in a position to represent him.

Heck, I don’t know...
We know so little about what goes on in the back ground...
For all we know, this could all be kabuki theatre with everything already decided...like the demonrats....

Why? I think that there is no doubt that Cruz wants to be president. When was the last time a cabinet secretary moved to the presidency?

Given his ambitions there is nothing to be gained for Cruz by serving in a Trump administration, either in the cabinet or as VP. And because of that there is no way Cruz would accept any offer Trump made, and no reason to believe that Trump would make any offer in the first place.

With his public statements that Cruz is ineligible I think Trump has permanently killed any chance of getting Cruz on his ticket. There's nothing kabuki in that.
