Under Sanders, income and jobs would soar, economist says (not satire)

Median income would soar by more than $22,000. Nearly 26 million jobs would be created. The unemployment rate would fall to 3.8%.

Those are just a few of the things that would happen if Bernie Sanders became president and his ambitious economic program were put into effect, according to an analysis given exclusively to CNNMoney. The first comprehensive look at the impact of all of Sanders' spending and tax proposals on the economy was done by Gerald Friedman, a University of Massachusetts Amherst economics professor.

Friedman found that if Sanders became president -- and was able to push his plan through Congress -- median household income would be $82,200 by 2026, far higher than the $59,300 projected by the Congressional Budget Office.

In addition, poverty would plummet to a record low 6%, as opposed to the CBO's forecast of 13.9%. The U.S. economy would grow by 5.3% per year, instead of 2.1%, and the nation's $1.3 trillion deficit would turn into a large surplus by Sanders' second term.

I have a very simple metric for this sort of analysis. Count up the number of invocations of the word “would”. If it’s more than one per paragraph, what you have is speculation. Two per paragraph, opium dreaming. Three, Marxian analysis.

I like that metric. Something similar works for me when reading opinion pieces and editorials. The more adjectives they use, the more I know I’m being manipulated.

Even more fundamentally, it’s about survival of the fittest, by whatever means one has at his disposal - brute force, intelligence, cleverness, associations, lawyers, police, power of persuasion, etc.

Civilization is simply a a thin veneer that camouflages that reality.

And that applies to all living things.

Good analysis of the situation.

There was a story of an interview with a nail factory manager:

If our quota is number of nails for a year, we make small nails.
If the quota is in kilograms, we make big nails.
If the quota is ever in the value of the nails, they will be made of gold.

That was one of the more interesting books I’ve read in the past ten years. Gist of it was that because of satellite and videotape, the people of the Soviet Block saw just how relatively prosperous were the Western nations. They wanted the same for themselves and more importantly, the brighter future for their children.

All these years, they had been told the Western cultures were poverty-stricken, and their collectivism was paradise. Then they actually saw what was happening, they rebelled.

Of course the income tax rate would be in the 80 to 90% range, so it wouldn't really matter.

Put another way, although median income would grow by $22,000, median taxation would grow by $23,000, to pay for all the free $hit in Bernie's platform.

Almost all of the captured Soviet troops in WWII were killed when they returned to Russia after the war.
They had seen the west and realized they were not in the ‘Workers Paradise”,
so Stalin had them executed. Their orders were to fight to the last bullet, and then use the bullet to kill theselves so they could not be used as slave labor to help the opposition.

There is a sad story of Cossak calvary troops who were in British custody and the British forcefully gave them back to the Soviets. Some had families with them and everyone knew they would die in Russia.

It has everything to do with God.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Those words are the difference, "their Creator".

If not God, than who?

Man?

A collection of democratically elected men?

Aliens?

Those words are the single most genius words that freed mankind from the bondage of other men.

Without God, everything is relative.

I’ll ask you a fundamental question.

Can Satan exist without God?

There have been a number of questions I have addressed and explored along my journey.

The one of Satan or evil was certainly one, but the question of “Free Will” stands apart.

They tend to act that way in modern times — like they are the tail wagging the dog.

What we call liberal now is generally a secular perversion of what used to be called old fashioned Christian motives.
