Cruz is not going to win the nomination because it's personal now with Trump [vanity]

Posted on 02/03/2016 10:09:40 AM PST by springwater13

The bad blood between Cruz and Trump is now personal. Trump will take it to Cruz like he took it to Bush. Scorched Earth warfare. If he loses, so be it at least Cruz won't win.

I don't see a situation now where Cruz can consolidate Trump support if he falters. If Trump starts bleeding, his supporters will go to Rubio or step away from the political process and not support Cruz. I don't think people understand how Ted's televangelist routine grates on less religious voters that make up the bulk of Trump's coalition. People around my office were talking about his victory speech Tuesday morning and largely were horrified.

You hit the nail on the head, springwater13. Cruz was my second choice.

Since Sep 6, 2015

A sad day for FR.

How any Conservative can support and justify (let alone show a degree of glee over) scorched earth tactics in choosing a Conservative GOP nominee is beyond me.

Might as well just hand the Presidency to Hillary. Even the Dems knew better than to have this sort of internal blood feud back in ‘08.

It's wait and see, isn't it? That shaming letter and that victory speech may not play as well in other states as they did in Iowa. Besides that, most folk think it's a good thing that Trump raised over $6 million to go directly to low-overhead Veterans groups, and involved us "little folk" who wanted to be part of the contributions.

If Iowans can't get it that Trump showed respect and affection for them while Cruz was pandering to them and manipulating their vote, really, who lost?

Yes, my secular Jewish friend declared she refused to vote for Rubio for all "of his Jesus-speak!"

Obama declared he was a Christian before his election in '08 and discussed his Muslim/err Christian faith to Stephanoplist in '08 which I guess was OK because everyone knew he was lying, at least my secular Jewish friend wasnt offended when Obama used the dreaded "Christian" word!

When Cruz uses the same words as Rubio, Cruz is considered offensive while Rubio isn't. Go figure!

Cruz spent $3.2 million in the last three months alone to win 8 delegates.

Trump spent $200,000 dollars and won 7 delegates. Brilliant!

Man, I gotta tell you, if the Cruz and Trump supporters here on FR would focus their collective venom and vitriol at hiltlary, the bern, and the DNC/GOPe washington cabal instead of at each other, I bet that the whole 100 square miles of Washington DC would spontaneously combust.

And problem solved.

It got extremely “personal” between Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush (”Voodoo Economics”); yet who did Reagan select as his running mate? No one should overreact to primary season theatrics.
Anybody think that John McCain and Sarah Palin had much in common?
Political parties always coalesce to give themselves the best opportunity to win the general election.
This year will be no different

Seems there are hundreds of newly established accounts and years-dormant accounts doing a lot of posting these last few days. Stirring up the pot. They should all be banned and deleted.

Yep Trump and Cruz are going to eat each other and hand the nomination to “the third way” Rubio.

I agree with your analysis. But I will be pithier. Cruz's acceptance speech sucked.

I think he was describing Trump’s thought process not his own.

I agree. Trump is too miserly to spend the money necessary to win an election. He is showing he is not a serious candidate.

” . . .grates on less religious voters that make up the bulk of Trump’s coalition. . .”

Those less religious voters do not understand that our freedoms rely on a moral people - that this Country was formed under God’s Grace and Blessing.

The exodus from Christianity has come close to destroying this Country already.

You may be right, but I think this childish rant hurts Trump much more than Cruz...he actually may not want to be President or he's alarmed that the press may not want to cover a loser...anyway you look at this, Trump is a clown...

I’d probably move to Cruz if Trump falters. No sense speculating though. I think NH is a must win for Trump and we have less than a week before we see what happens.

I’m not going to let Cruz’s supporters insulting me and lumping me into one category or another affect how I personally make my choice on the man himself.

That said, Cruz did play dirty against Carson in IA. Which to me, showed him as a typical politician. A politician I can probably ally myself with, but a typical politician nonetheless.

I’ve been looking for those numbers and would love to keep track of them from state to state. Do you have a reference? Thank you.
