Ted Cruz is proof that evangelicals will swarm to the candidate that says moderately correct religious stuff and completely ignore the various ways in which the candidate will either expand the state or otherwise keep the status quo. Rhetoric is more important to the conservative Christian base than anything, and said rhetoric is the very thing that blinds them to the statist trends of the GOP.
HOWEVER, we also need to work in the present day. We need to work incrementally (as you said in an earlier post). Go more conservative, limit government, repeal laws. shrink the budget.
Then go back to the way it was meant once it becomes a workable government again.
Congrats on the reelection, much common sense in your words. The big news here in Michigan today is a new bill to bring back constitutional carry of a concelled handgun. One of my long term battles. Republican house, senate, and governer. We should get it done.
"We're a long way from a smaller more efficient government ... go visit the DMV" By your reasoning we as a country should abandon efforts to control our uncontrolled budget deficits. All journeys start a long distance from their destinations.
We're out of THAT kind of time and whatever we do ... it'll tick SOMEone off ... and probably our best FRiends
"I can't wait until we're all in nursing homes
writing graffiti on the bathroom walls about the staff
in cursive
so they can't read it"
Good one.
People have to go ... and policy's already in existence .. cancelled
older people should be retired out of McDonald's because they have a sufficient Medicare... and young people should be there learning to show up and do work.
There is SO much (imo) that we haven't done (for whatever reason), that we are forced to do now
It is what it is
Stupid me I always thought one would make a rational decision on throwing one’s support to candidate based on his or her’s philosophy, principles and character. I guess I’ll have to train myself to recognize that many people act based on their emotions.
The US population sure isnt, witness the people who want a womanizing billionaire whose wife posed for lesbian softporn, endorsed by a Christian university...
and he is called a conservative for the first time in his life, and the people applaud this immoral man.
Even so, Come Lord Jesus...
That’s good.
Trump is more statist than the libertarians, but Cruz is globalist. New World Order. I’ll stick with America.
No, as I was not a longtime friend of John Roberts. At the time of the appointment of John Roberts, Ted Cruz was a personal friend of John Roberts. He wrote a strongly positive piece about him emphasizing their personal friendship and knowledge.
"As a jurist, Judge Roberts's approach will be that of his entire career: carefully, faithfully applying the Constitution and legal precedent. ... The Senate should confirm him swiftly," Cruz wrote at the time.
I assume you are so infallible that you have never misjudged an individual. In my life, which is approaching four score years, I have misjudged many people both positively and negatively. Human nature is so complex that even a ouija board will give occasional erroneous answers.
I’ll have to remember that one.
That's pretty good reasoning for my support of Trump ... If he's a bull in a china shop, best thing you can do is close the door and let him wreck everything and start from scratch ... a milder, tamer animal in the same shop has to be constantly monitored and maneuvered and promissory notes given to the owner for damages that .... well ... the owner may never get paid anyway
How one gets to your conclusion of a bull in a china shop to my take on human nature is beyond me.
I think he is one of those ouija board enigma's ... part patriot, part businessman, part Conservative, part Capitalist, part Free market, part bully, part clever manager ... and on and on
THAT was my reference point for my comment
I can't remember a single Presidential candidate , good, bad or indifferent ... that hasn't had SOMETHING "found out" later on down the road
My bull comparison is simply ... Trump has made me wince about a half a dozen times (the latest .. the re-vote for Iowa) that makes me want to slap him ....
But I remember MY sales manager instructing and directing us in ways that, at the time, seemed stupid ... until I started selling more using his direction
Politics is sales ... plain and very simple, and men looking for a company to work for, look for the numbers and the success
I believe Trump can deliver the wall ... and his Presidency after that will be a cake walk
I WANT to believe that we will oust the dems and the RINO's to give him a chance at his advisors giving us Supreme Justice candidates that the veto proof Senate will approve ... and I want to believe Trump will nominate Successful American ... rather than politically correct American ... psychologies to those ... and other positions
The scripture states ... As a man thinketh, so is he
I think Trump is practiced with facing opposition and winning .. AND ... I think he has come out with less than a win but an overall good for the company ... in this case ... The USA
Like a bull in a china shop
OK. I don’t. And it has nothing whatsoever to do with Christianity. It has to do with survival. In this regard, I have no faith in trump whatsoever. he is a self-interested businessman with no interest in or sensitivity to the nuances of Constitutional self-government. In this I stand 100% with Ben Sasse’s recent definition of a Conservative. Trump is not one.
I appreciate your reply ... thank you
his voting record matches his talk
