THIS Conversation Needs To Be Started and Continued

Ted Cruz is proof that evangelicals will swarm to the candidate that says moderately correct religious stuff and completely ignore the various ways in which the candidate will either expand the state or otherwise keep the status quo. Rhetoric is more important to the conservative Christian base than anything, and said rhetoric is the very thing that blinds them to the statist trends of the GOP.

I had been trying to analyze my position on Ted Cruz and this passed before me during my insomniac hours this morning

I have no problem with discussing this with anyone

It's called pandering to the lowest-IQ ten percent of the voters. His opening speech at Liberty University was 100% fake, and hit all the idiot buttons.

Like Huckabee and Santorum, targeting the evangelicals gets you Iowa, and not much else.

It seems to me that if you want to avoid a charge of bigotry for impugning an entire religion, you ought to specify a bill of particulars and be prepared to defend.

I just described it on my daily pre-coffee rant on another thread. It's a form of Stockholm Syndrome, that voters accept things that they know won't turn out well. What I don't understand is why so many voters accepted Cruz's promises but ignored Shamegate, political tricks to steal Dr. Carson's votes, constant badgering for contributions for over a month. They accept the "same old stuff" and think anything is going to get better if the candidate leading that is elected?

That's Stockholm Syndrome, and I'm disappointed that so many voters in Iowa didn't see it for what it is.

Yes, lets try to find the speck in Ted's eye while ignoring/spinning/justifying the log in Trump's eye.

And while we are at it lets talk about those conservatives who will "swarm" to anyone who spouts a few attractive conservative sounding talking points during campaign season, while they are lifetime big government, liberals who have done nothing for conservatives. We don't have enough of these types right now.

I will pass this pointless discussion.

expand the state?

a whole new army to deport people?
a whole new bureaucracy to pay for student loans?
a whole new bureaucracy to make all healthcare free?

oh wait...

That was all Trump

Well I’m certainly not voting for Mr Single Payor 2000.. trump circa 2000 is a whichever way rhe nomination blows. A,man who says they are going to force Israel.. force apple... cities have the right to condemn is not my guy. Besides, he ditched a debate because he is afraid of a girl who might ask unfair questions... so In summary trump is the libs way of ensuring obamacare stays.. or worse Trumps government funded healthcare... doesn’t understand the words sovereign nation.. scared of unfairness... and worse hiding behind veterans. I am a veteran and that Uber progressive tactic angered me. Not just no.
Two Corinthians ping! Go hide your women .. I think there were some evangelicals in your area..

Remember how well all that pandering worked out for Santorum and Huckabee? Cruz will be different though.

It’s called campaigning on your actual vote record, not false promises, by living your word, not changing it. Cruz is real, I have met him 4 times now, spoke with him, he us consistent, and his voting record matches his talk. No one else in the race can say that.

Bovine excrement. God has raised up Ted Cruz for such a time as this. Winning Iowa is prayers answered.

I’ve come to realize Ted is out for Ted, mostly talk, much useless action.

I call him a Christian in name only. Just using jesus to help him get what he wants, not having surrendered himself for God to use - as evidenced by shamegate and not apologizing, caving votes, conveniently forgetting to list loans and last I knew I still had not righted that either, allowing rumor about carson on caucus night with weak apology only because he had to to try to save face. And these are just a few of his “speak Christian, but act other” moments of late, let alone his colleagues don’t like him so he can’t really accomplish anything.

I’d rather have Trump who makes it clear he is marginally Christian but has much much stronger examples to back up the fact He can push for and implement many changes this country needs if it is to remain the USofA.

Both need our prayers for God to change their hearts and minds to be more as He wants for His purposes of our country.

If I read correct elsewhere our country started with the people raising up people to be in leadership positions (some of which had to be persuaded to run), not individuals seeking office themselves and having to garner support and hopefully sway /gain the voters interest in them.

In a Democratic Republic our leaders/representatives are rarely accountable to the people as evidenced by the powers of incumbency. The deities of the SCOTUS are accountable to no one ever. But they are accountable to God every second of every minute of every hour of every day. Our only hope for honesty and against corruption is the fear of the Lord.

Proverbs 29:2
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

Trump is a bull in a china closet and that's what I want

I honestly don't believe we have the time to make any corrections by all the standard acceptable methods .. politics

Like two boys in a schoolyard ... they gott'a get it on, some one or both get bloody, and it's all over

I'm too old to wait for politicians to relate to their esteemed colleague on the other side of the aisle and actually do things MY way ...It's my aisle ... at least for a while ... and I want something done

You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

I'm a born again Christian and I cringed when Trump said two Corinthians ... we Baptists have read and are reading our Bibles

But let's face it ... the US is NOT the Christian nation we desire it to be

Every fundamental pastor and missionary tell weekly tales of Sunday night and Wednesday night services disappearing

Church or worship services include a rock band and blue jeaned singers

The schools are NOT teaching children to read nor to read with pleasure ... consequently they are BORED WITH THE SPOKEN LANGUAGE

Bible believing Christians are the only ones volunteering to sit for (perhaps) hours and listen to language that can soothe, or scathe ... and we go back every week

We're a minority in America

I hear the righteousness in the language of Cruz, but I don't think it will carry the nation

I used to think Trump was the Perot ... NOW I think it is Cruz

The last three generations are out there, many not voting, but the ones that ARE, are socialists by NEA indoctrination

I want that bull in a china closet
