How I Lost Nearly 100 Pounds Eating Pizza
New York Post ^ | January 27, 2016 | Claudine Ko

When it comes to the never-ending quest to slim down, we’ve all heard about the success of the Atkins diet and eating Paleo. But one New York City chef used a far more revolutionary method to lose an astounding 94 pounds: the Pizza Diet.

Naples, Italy, native Pasquale Cozzolino, 38, moved to New York in 2011 to work at Midtown’s PizzArte, and he quickly packed on the pounds. The 6-foot-6-inch chef weighed a healthy 254 pounds when he first got off the plane, but his waistline expanded as he made efforts to familiarize himself with the city’s restaurants and turned to snacking to deal with stress.

Yep...

Someone at work would always ask me “what was my secret”. It seemed they were all eating those gaggy dry puffed rice cakes (early 90’s) and couldn’t lose weight.

When you try to explain that to lose weight it requires physical effort to burn more calories than you are consuming they just shrug their shoulders and walk away. Toward the end of my weight loss (I started at 275 and got down to 175) I was burning about 5,000 calories a day while eating about 1,500-2,000 and losing close to 2-3 pounds a week.

A quick rule of thumb is 5,000 calorie deficit equals about 1 pound weight loss.

“lost the weight but what an unhealthy diet”

Why? You had the fries. Potatoes have lots of nutrition.

Thanks. So, nowhere in the country is there more than 35% of whites that are obese?

Yeah, it looks like on the mainland and Alaska we are doing very well. My state of Colorado shows the lowest for whites which is really remarkable because I notice A LOT of heavies here of all races. So they must be EVERYWHERE in some of these other places.

My cell phone has a pedometer that I used for a recent visit to Magic Kingdom. For the day it counted about 14,000 steps, which it said was equal to just over 5 miles, which it said was 400 calories burned. And I thought, “400 calories?! That’s not even enough to indulge in dessert!” ;)

Haha, I would consider 60%ish of daily intake as more than a little fudge....course, fudge being what it is really only requires a little bit. Yummm, fudge...

I’ve been on Atkins for 10 months now and have lost 60 pounds and gone from a 52 inch waist to a 44 inch waist.
I don’t miss the breads or potatoes at all and limit my rice to sushi once a month and low carb pasta once a month.

...

If you weighed more, you’d burn more calories.

Thank you for the ping. I have now lost 36 pounds since Nov 19th. I will respond more fully later tonight but I pretty much have the “secret” to losing weight and it does not involve being hungry, being a gym rat or any kind of fad diet.

In 2003, I lost 106 ponds in just over seven months. In the years since, I put it all back on, though slowly and imperceptibly. I know know what my mistake was. I’ve corrected it and now the pounds are quickly coming off again. This time, I will keep them off. More later, stay tuned...
